My origami skills are very basic. I was never very good at folding delicate pieces of paper into beautiful works of art, but I have many a friend who have the nimble touch and graceful forte to quickly craft the most immaculate of cranes, among other creatures and objects. Australian singer songwriter and producer Woodes creates and folds music like origami, and with it, she bends and crimps our very hearts like origami, too. It’s only fitting that her long awaited new single is named Origami. She drew inspiration from her experiences in Japan for the euphorically aerated electropop song, a softly lithesome and effulgent beauty which she co-wrote with Thief and Jussi Illmari during a songwriting camp in Bali, with additional production by Elkkle. This is one of the most electronic tracks we’ve heard to date from Woodes. Its future bass warbles are playful and spry, youthful and fantastical, just like the creatures we like to whimsically summon with our little pieces of colorful paper. It’s a thoroughly enchanting track that arrives ahead of Woodes’ new 7 track EP, Golden Hour, and an Australian tour in support of the release. Find out more on her website, here. Origami can be found on iTunes, here.

It’s been an extended amount of time since we’ve heard from Australian project Set Mo, the production pair consisting of Nick Drabble and Stu Turner. Turns out, they were fast at work making sweet music, and not just by themselves, but with one of our long time favorites, singer songwriter and producer Woodes. She graces I Belong Here’s supple soundscape with her lithe smoky vocals. The electronic track also features a mini choir on backing vocals that involves high caliber talent, too. Asta, Elizabeth Rose, and KLP all join in on the svelte shimmying indie dance meets melodic house opus. I Belong Here is available from iTunes, here.

Run For It is Australian singer songwriter and producer Woodes’ first release since her dazzling self titled EP, and it’s an assertive anthem of vitality that melds percussion effusive folk pop with stately marching alt pop. Woodes explains that her goal on Run For It was to have the percussion and bass down first to ensure that energy and heart would shine on the song. No doubt she’s nailed that intent with this sweeping, striking single. We can always count on Woodes when it comes to sophisticated and evocative pop, and we’re no less impressed by and enamored with Run For It. Re-visit her EP on Soundcloud, here.

Woodes, the captivating Australian chanteuse we’ve been extolling for nearly a year, announced that she’d signed to Universal just a few days ago, and we can’t be happier for the immensely talented musician. The Melbourne based singer songwriter and producer just released a new single named Bonfire today, and a visit is more than required. This earthy bewitching, smoky simmering combination found on the gorgeous song surely lives up to both Woodes’ chosen artist name and the song’s own title. I’m transported deep into an enchanted forest late at night. The flames of a bonfire dance seductively as I sway my body around its glowing embers, possessed by an elegant yet animalistic impulse rising from Woodes’ Bonfire. You can find Bonfire on Woodes’ self titled EP from late last year, available here. Woodes was recently added to SXSW’s official lineup. She’s certainly one of my must catch artists when I visit Austin next month.

If you’ve been following along with us for the past year, then you likely know how much of a fan we are of Australian singer songwriter Woodes, so when a new remix of her song Byron surfaced on our radar, I had to beseech my heart to be still. It didn’t help that this remix comes by way of oft IHM praised producer from the East Coast, Minno. Woodes’ smoky captivating voice dances magically in an ocean of breaking future waves and brisk melodic trap on Minno’s lighthearted frolic. The ebullient and exultant treat is a free download, here.

It’s been but a few days since we lost ourselves in the delicately entrancing beauty of Brisbane producer Golden Vessel’s Vines, a dreamy lush palate pleaser featuring IHM favorite Woodes on spellbinding vocals. We revisit that gem via an ethereal divine official remix by fellow Australian Feki. He instills the song with twilight shimmers and sensual trills, giving it a thoroughly intoxicating, spacious plumed melodic bass and chill trap makeover. Feki’s remix is a free download, here. To Australia we go as Brisbane producer Golden Vessel carries us away with a breathtaking beauty of a tune named Vines. IHM favorite Woodes turns in delicately entrancing vocals on this chill luxuriant, dreamy lush single off of Golden Vessel’s guest talent studded debut EP, Before Sleep. The musician proves himself a “golden vessel” with that record, channeling sonic magnificence through his dreamy electronica. Before Sleep, which also features OKBADLANDS, MTNS, and LASTLINGS, can be streamed on Soundcloud and purchased from iTunes.
