[PREMIERE] Minno – Blackout ft. Shel Bee

Minno, the production sensation from the East Coast whose fed us a steady diet of phenomenal remixes and originals this past year, nearly plays mind tricks on us with his new original. Mystery and intrigue abound on future bass/melodic trap anthem Blackout. The darkly winding track takes us on a metaphysical voyage, one that defies the very confines of our mind. Reality and dream, nightmare and illusion fade and blur into one another indistinctly. Los Angeles’ Shel Bee leads us on the suspenseful journey with her smoky operatic vocals, guiding us through Minno’s bold and lavish soundscape. Like the very fish (minnow) that this producer seems to have named himself after, we swim and dive, twist and turn through this ocean of brisk swelling synths and deep rumbling, guttural gripping bass. It’s almost disorienting dissolving into this dark ballad, but in a deeply satisfying way. Some might find a “blackout” rather perturbing, but when it’s a grand and theatrical, intense and gripping sonic experience like what’s Minno meticulously crafted for our ears, it becomes a thrilling enlightenment, a visceral yet insightful trip through our own heads. You can also stream Minno’s inky opaque, weighty ominous song of bewitchment via Spotify, here. For more of Minno’s production bedazzlement, visit his Soundcloud page, here.

If anyone’s looking “extra fly” right now, it’s Minno, and if anyone’s “touching the sky” in ecstasy, it’s me, riding high on the East Coast producer’s new remix of Kanye West classic Touch The Sky, featuring Lupe Fiasco. To be honest, it’s been ages since I’ve revisited Touch The Sky, or anything off of Late Registration. That era feels like it was many lifetimes ago. Kanye has evolved through so many different artistic states since that release. I mean, he’s (supposedly) holed up like Justin Vernon in a log cabin in the woods right now to write the next iteration of his music! Minno brings back some old school Ye with his remix, but this Touch The Sky has been transmuted into a horn blaring, synth shuddering modern trap anthem. Minno’s remix of Touch The Sky is a free download, here.

If you’ve been following along with us for the past year, then you likely know how much of a fan we are of Australian singer songwriter Woodes, so when a new remix of her song Byron surfaced on our radar, I had to beseech my heart to be still. It didn’t help that this remix comes by way of oft IHM praised producer from the East Coast, Minno. Woodes’ smoky captivating voice dances magically in an ocean of breaking future waves and brisk melodic trap on Minno’s lighthearted frolic. The ebullient and exultant treat is a free download, here.

Violet Days – Your Girl (Minno Remix)

Our very first premiere of the year is one I’ve been excited to share since last year. East Coast production talent Minno has already enchanted us with his handiwork bountiful times in the last six months. He kicks off 2017 with an airy twinkling, mellifluous trickling future bass and chill trap remix of a song we adore excessively, Violet Days’ Your Girl. Minno highlights the warm aching glow found on the Swedish pop outfit’s bittersweet anthem with a weightless chopping, restless rolling edit. I ride the intoxicating waves he’s forged, fully consumed by his lithe and nimble concoction. Minno has given Your Girl a beautifully spacious and strikingly expansive makeover, one that reminds me of Tove Lo and the many magnificent edits of her music that have come out in these past years. A poignant yet sublime mist engulfs me from the pits of Minno’s teeming ripples. The emotions stirred within go hand in hand with a ruminative storm brewing just outside my window. Los Angeles multi-instrumentalist, singer songwriter, and producer Luna Shadows has been one of our rising stars to watch this year, having released a spectacular debut EP named Summertime on which she collaborated with The Naked And Famous’ Thom Powers and Sombear/Now, Now’s Bradley Hale. EP cut Hallelujah California, a bewitching beauty of a smoggy pop gem, has been subjected to American producer MINNO’s re-working prowess, resulting in a bold riveting, sublime scintillating future bass and trap rendition. This wavy resolute, dark atmospheric remix is a free download, here.

It’s not often anyone comes knocking with an Oasis remix. In fact, I can’t really recall the last time I encountered an Oasis remix. And I have an inkling that no matter how good a remix of their music is, Noel Gallagher would be huff puffing angry about it. Well, he just might like this one, a remix of classic hit Don’t Look Back In Anger by an American producer who goes by the name Minno. Even if he doesn’t, I know I do. Minno gives the song a contemporary electronic makeover, an airy slick, radiant twinkling outburst of trappy future bass and melodic house. The remix is more than welcome in my books, a celestial enchanting throwback and a creative ode to a timeless tune.
