Venice Beach duo Sibling takes our hearts into familiar territory on their new single Rearview. The track reflects on the “bittersweet reality of unrequited love with a close friend”, a much tormenting place to be mired in, as most of us know from past experience. That emotional roller coaster ride is mirrored in the band’s dark pulsating alt pop. Rearview is a grandly cinematic voyage with steady beats, clarion vocals, and rich production. It’s a soul-searching soundtrack whose bittersweet notes remind us of our past even as we move forward, having accepted the hard truth of matters. Sibling’s Rearview is the kind of sweeping song you want to bring with you on a late night drive as you wax nostalgic over the past.

It’s been six long months since we last heard from Southern California’s Sibling, yet I’m still addicted to their last song, Westside, an entrancing dollop of sparkling ebullient, frothy prancing alt pop. It’s a darker sound they give us on moodier Revolve, a heavy shifting, bass wobbling electropop brooder reminiscent of Sombear with some elaborate Son Lux and somber SOHN intensity. Here’s to hoping it won’t be another half a year before we’re graced with more crepuscular enchanting Sibling. Re-visit Westide below.

Westside begins with a playful charm that lures me right into the song’s gleaming ebullience, trapping me blissfully within its frothy percussion and creamy vocals. It’s the second song from new Southern California indie pop band Sibling, one that I’ve been eagerly awaiting since their debut last year. The cottony light and entrancingly fluffy tune prances lightly and nimbly, a hypnotic fusion of electropop and breezy alt pop that wavers between lustrously bright and darkly enigmatic.

From right here in California comes an ear perking new pop act named Sibling. Debut song Easy exudes a dreamy, bittersweet soaked electronic pop sound. Easy is an gently charged ballad with atmospheric and pillowy experimental electronic production. There’s a serene, languorous air to the song that befits its title. It’s as if the band brought the cool California breeze of Venice Beach straight into the song. Easy is the first of four songs from an EP that will be independently released this summer.

Australian producer and multi-instrumentalist Medium Punch brings some gut wrenching, emotively moving vibes on minimalist electronic pop single Gone, which features fluid vocals by Sibling. The highly textured and gossamer gem is taken from Medium Punch’s debut EP, to be released on bandcamp February 20th. Gone has a poignant, soulful depth that’s expansive despite the song’s wispy intimacy.
