My stomach is making a lot of very loud noises right now, because I’m very hungry, but it’s a very big deal that new CHVRCHES has arrived, so food is going to have to wait as we partake in our favorite Scottish electropop band’s new single together. The trio are preparing to release a third album this year, quite possibly one of the most anticipated records of 2018 after their prior two albums were so successful and memorable. Towering synths and Lauren Mayberry’s unmistakable voice lifts our spirits on this fine Wednesday as we wade into pop heavy, synth blooming, and “kaleidoscopic” whirling Get Out, which is available as a single, here. I’m sure we’ll be learning a lot more about CHVRCHES next album soon.

Who doesn’t love The Chordettes’ timeless 1950s classic Mr Sandman, originally written by Pat Ballard? Its doo-woppy barbershop pop is utterly infectious and oodles of bum-bum-bum fun. Chicago drummer and beatsmith Cofresi breathes new life into the oldie but goodie with a wickedly brilliant flip entitled Sandman, on which he douses the track with sharp trap chops and extra whimsical springs to create a modern makeover. Remixing Mr Sandman could go wrong in so many ways, but Cofresi hits the bulls-eye with this elastic bouncing edit that retains the original’s sugary sweetness. Grab the track, here.

Birocratic is a Brooklyn producer and multi-instrumentalist whose real name is Brandon Rowan, and he’s already established himself a force in the scene these past few years thanks to a slew of original productions and remixes. The 24 year old artist has even been featured in videos from Buzzfeed and YouTube vlogger Casey Neistat, as well as supported artists like MNDSGN and Grammy nominee StarRo live. He kicks off 2018 with a groovy homage to 90′s house and 80′s funk named, fittingly, Extra Fresh. The luscious track even comes accompanied by a cheeky “infomercial” video for, what else, but minty mouth wash. Get down to Birocratic’s robust basslines on his chill disco and glam house jam. Birocratic is also known for his brilliant live shows. He dazzles the crowd with his instrumental skills on bass guitar, keyboards, finger-drumming, and more, allowing him to bring his experimental jazz, hip hop, and house records to life in real time. Download/stream Extra Fresh, here.

Honeyed chanteuse Nevve really does seem to be everywhere these days, as we’ve already said plenteous times prior. Alongside collaborations with Manila Killa and Robotaki, she’s now turned up on a fresh new single from Dutch production talents DROELOE, too, lending her enthralling vocals to the pair’s future bass stand out, BACKBONE. DROELOE’s grand charging, majestic marching trap and bass swivels and thunders resolutely, creating a widescreen and cinematic voyage for us listeners. Though its synths hit hard, and though both its bass and fierce lyrics carry a peppery bite, BACKBONE is a graceful and limber work of beautiful art. DROELOE explains: “This single is all about not letting your doubts get to your head, so we hope it inspires you to do something you’ve been holding back from.” You can stream/download the inspiring anthem, here.

Spirix has given us countless sterling remixes in the past year, as well as an exceptional collaboration with Xuitcasecity named Runaway. The Los Angeles based producer is on rise, and we can’t help but feel more than a twinge of regret for having to miss his set at SnowGlobe over the holidays. Now, he’s returned with a fresh original named Little Doubts, featuring California chanteuse Aviella Winder on sugar coated vocals. Little Doubts is a thrilling ride, with cathartic drops and vibrant chords. It’s exhilarating and beautiful all at once, a chromatic future bass and chill trap anthem that shoots us to the heavens. Little Doubts can be downloaded, here.

Do you ever wake up and go to work, and wish you were still at home bundled up in bed dreaming of castles in the sky or a more perfect world? Well, now you can feel like you are, thanks to Toronto producers Frankie & Spencer, who go buy the musical name WAVES. They link up with husky voiced songbird Angeline on their single Still Dreaming, an icy glittering, nimbly shuddering future bass and chill trap anthem awash in neon phosphorescence and prismatic effervescence. You can snag the gorgeous song from Toneden, here.

It’s been a long road for What So Not fans like us.  From the days when What So Not was a duo that also involved future bass pioneer Flume, to when What So Not collaborated with many other incredible artists, including Marcus Marr and George Maple, to all the times we’ve caught What So Not live (including sets at SXSW and that unforgettable countdown on NYE at SnowGlobe a few years ago), we’ve been die hard fans of the project’s sensational future bass, hip hop, and electronica. And now, this week, it’s finally happened. What So Not, aka Australia’s Emoh Instead, has finally announced a DEBUT FULL LENGTH
ALBUM. Not All The Beautiful Things will arrive on March 9th via Counter Records. The immense news comes accompanied by a transcendental new track involving Sydney’s BUOY, too. Stuck In Orbit all but shoots us into orbit with its atmospheric makeup and BUOY’s exceptionally captivating vocal prowess. It’s certainly one of What So Not’s more minimalist and ambient offerings, a restrained and more subtle, yet powerful and dramatic sprawler that strips away the very pull of gravity. We float among What So Not’s dark synths and cinematic drops, dissolving in pure bliss into its rolling waves. What So Not’s album is going to be a star studded affair, as you probably already expect. You can already pre-save and pre-order, here.

It was but a few days ago that we were extolling TWO LANES’ latest remix, an exceptional re-imagining of San Holo and James Vincent McMorrow’s The Future. We still can’t get enough of that moody simmering, percussive skittering masterpiece, but let’s turn our attention to the sibling production duo’s debut original, Long Way Home, which features HYM. You don’t want to miss it, trust me. Turns out, TWO LANES are just as brilliant when it comes to creating their own distinct music. The fast rising duo, who are both graduates of The Julliard School in NYC, dexterously weave future beats, future pop, and chill trap together on Long Way Home, giving us an airy effervescent yet heart affecting anthem that feels like it’s part Gryffin (but darker and moodier) and part Odesza (particularly their second album, Grammy nominated A Moment Apart). Stream/purchase TWO LANES’ stellar debut, here, and get ready for an incredible year for the duo.

There’s something magical about the city of Los Angeles. It embodies both hope and devastation, naivety and jadedness. As such, it’s spawned so many songs of all kinds, some joyous, some crestfallen. Brighton based producer OKO and honeyed songstress Rosie Darling paid tribute to L.A. on a song of the same name, and now SISTEK, a producer from Chile, has given the track a sparkly, airy remix that oozes summer nostalgia and aching pining. Despite its melancholic undertones, the balmy melodic house remix also lifts our spirits with its crisp prance and glowing warmth. The remix is out now on Aux Records, and you can download it for free, here

Though Stolar is new on our radar, he’s long established himself as a prolific artist and songwriter, having written over a thousand songs in the past while frequently flying between New York, Los Angeles, and Nashville. The now New York based artist makes his first mark on 2018 with a solo original named Erase You, an extension of his experiences over the past year including encounters with both heartbreak and new love. The velvety future soul, jazzy pop, and downtempo electronica track features buttery, creamy cooing and an irresistibly lilting cadence. Erase You emits an aura of raw vulnerability, yet it’s a silky sophisticated composition, with sultry curling guitars and sleek synth fluxes. Like in the film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, I’m sure we can all think of a person or two from our past we’d love to “erase”, but we’ll never want Stolar and his fleecy plush new tune to fade away from our tattered hearts. Grab the single from iTunes, here.
