Jim Morrison predicts the future in 1970

August 31, 2011

This video is for real right?

Please think deeply about this. VERY deeply. This interview took place in 1970. That’s right. Have you guys seen the news segment from the mid 1980’s where news reporters were blown away by Trent Reznor utilizing “samples” in the band he was in at the time (some cheesy unsuccessful 80’s band)? They were amazed about “sampling” and machines making music; they couldn’t understand the machines were not composing the music themselves, and that it was still based on human innovation and interaction.

But back in 1970, Jim Morrison goes and gives THIS interview? Then shuffles off this mortal coil soon after? O_O If only he were alive today!

This made me sit up straight in my seat….

New Look

First time checking out this band and my eyes popped wiiiiiide open as soon as the first few beats were in.

It’s very beautiful and synth filled. However, as enjoyable as it is, it’s not something that’s all that unique, there are other songs I can think of that are similar. But I like and enjoy it a LOT just the same. And after examining a few of their other songs, they do have a lot more great things to bring to the table. New Look hails from Canada and focus on a future-pop type of sound. Here’s a couple more…

I r impressed!

Feel Good Inc cover

August 31, 2011

Just had to share this great cover by Josie Charlwood. Girl’s got some skills! Checked out the few original songs she has on her channel and they were just okay. Awesome cover ability with the looping!

Niki and the Dove’s The Drummer

niki

And here’s another little Niki and the Dove tidbit… bits and pieces keep showing up every so often, I’m hungry for the debut album, come on! This radio rip includes the DJ talking about the band a bit. I totally agree on the a little bit of Robyn and a little bit of The Knife assessment… it’s accurate for this song. Not AS much though still a bit on all the other few tracks out and around.

One more grave wave related track…

salem

Here’s a Salem remix of Gucci Mane and it’s awesome! WICKED. =)

Switching gears to a heavenly oOoOO remix

August 31, 2011

This is oOoOO’s remix of Marina & the Diamond’s Obsessions. Very minimalistic, tinge of witch house/grave wave, a little bit glitchy. And a whole lot of deliciousness for the ears. ❤

Oh my….

macklemore

This is FAR more enjoyable than that Jack White/ICP/JEFF the Brotherhood/Mozart wild child flying through the hype machine today! Faaaaar more! Gonna have to look more into this Macklemore and this Ryan Lewis!

The video is so well done too! *chills* Noticed this in Fence’s facebook stream as he’s featured in this, I want to give him a hug. =)

Looked up Macklemore real quick, he hails from Seattle where he’s a local hiphop artist. Whoo… don’t think it’s gonna be “local” for long!!!

Continuing with the noise pop and surf rock…

seapony

Who feels like some more lo-fi noise pop? I’m glad Seapony is getting more and more attention… Here’s a live video someone posted of my (so far) favorite song of theirs.

Wait, what’s the SFPOPFEST? I guess I totally missed this somehow… whoops!

New Wavves

wavves

I’ve been hearing about the new Wavves track I Want to Meet David Grohl for a few days now. Very upbeat and peppy. I like!

Jack White + Insane Clown Posse + Mozart + Jeff the Brotherhood???

August 31, 2011

Umm. What? Let me try to digest this. Wait, what? Oh and on top of that, the Mozart track is called “Leck Mich Im Arsch”. Wait, what?

Jack White produces, Jeff the Brotherhood does the background music, Insane Clown Posse performs, and Mozart….. hopefully doesn’t roll over in his grave. But did he really write a song called “Leck Mich Im Arsch”? Ahh, Amadeus… how strange you were in your maniacal genius.

Here’s the announcement video floating around:

And this is the actual tune if the upload I found is accurate:

What the heck???

And, yes, apparently it’s accurate that Mozart wrote the song called “Leck Mich Im Arsch”, they didn’t make this up somehow…

Anyone understand the lyrics to the chorale singing? Anyone?

I’m still digesting, not sure what to think about this yet, sounds unique for sure…
