Now we find ourselves sighing away to Alec Benjamin’s new single, Let Me Down Slowly, an R&B pop infused ballad brimming with lovelorn anguish but flush with resilient beats and a bass grooving cadence. That’s right, there’s no forgetting Alec Benjamin once he’s serenaded us with his vibing tunes, whether intimately stripped back or awash with rhythmic instruments. As if we aren’t already insanely excited for Lykke Li’s new album ‘so sad so sexy’, the Swedish artist has gone ahead and dropped off these two new treats to stir us into a wild frenzy of agitated anticipation. Sex Money Feelings Die could very well be our favorite song off the album that we’ve heard so far, even though we’re very much in love with Hard Rain, Deep End, and Utopia. Synthpop meets R&B soul on the tune, co-produced by Jeff Bhasker. It even boasts a sparse and spacious trap beat. It’s obvious Lykke Li is going for a more urban influenced sound on her forthcoming full length. Accompanying that gorgeous tune is a collaboration with Portland hip hop sensation Aminé named ‘two nights’ which you can stream below. A thick swirl of scuzzy thumping rock envelopes us as Tancred enthralls us with her latest single, Something Else. While her ex-bandmates from Now, Now are in the midst of their new album release and touring for the record, Jess Abbott is preparing to release a new album of her own named Nightstand on June 1st. And she’s going to hit the road with The Joy Formidable this fall. 2018 is turning out to be super sweet, considering all the bands and artists we love that have returned with new albums. Something Else fluctuates between raw frenetic and sweetly delicate. The other day, we were celebrating the return of English folktronica band Tunng by sharing their ace new single ABOP. I’d imagine the band must be pretty busy considering the new album they’re preparing to drop this summer, yet Tunng’s Mike Lindsay has found time to form a new band with celebrated folk singer songwriter Laura Marling. The pair, who’ve named themselves LUMP, already have a self-titled debut album arriving on June 1st via Dead Oceans. They’ve shared a second single from the record, which like their first single Curse of the Contemporary, comes accompanied by a music video starring a big red expressive and lonely yeti of sorts. I know this one’s been out for a moment, but we’re such massive fans of Toronto artist Jessie Reyez that we really couldn’t let an exceptional new song from her slip us by. It’s been a wild ride, falling for the R&B soul artist after encountering Figures and Shutter Island early last year and gunning for her as the next big thing. We even made it a point to catch her ONE set at SXSW last year, and we came back singing her praises and spreading the word about her as much as we could. Sure enough, Jessie Reyez has become quite the sensation since, and now she’s returned with Body Count, blessing us with her raw, emotive voice, so uniquely remarkable, and her edgy and bold sound, which often pushes the envelope when it comes to empowering women and other artists. Body Count is an anthem for self-love and expression, and its recent video, directed by Peter Huang, was inspired by the Salem witch trials, a historic moment when women were persecuted to the extreme. Reyez explains: “Sometimes for allegations of magic but often for low key sexual promiscuity or sexual selectiveness.  In short, you’re going to get judged anyway, so as long as you’re not hurting anyone and loving yourself, might as well do whatever you want. The music scene lately is rife with exceptional female pop debuts, and quite a few of them are coming from legendary music town Nashville, too. Singer songwriter ELA Lindsey has made her engrossing debut with a gritty synthpop song named Healing Me Slow, a lush sonic elixir enveloped in ravishing beats. The track, which was premiered by our friends at We Found New Music, is a lavishly layered, restlessly agitated beauty. Ruddy and dark, with willowy ethereal vocals, Healing Me Slow keys us into a must watch new talent who only recently discovered her passion for music a few short years ago after relocating to Nashville from her hometown of Jupiter, Florida.

RIVAH’s name might as well be “riveting”. The Australian artist turned in an effortless performance on debut single Untame late last year, transfixing us with a dusky glistening electro R&B emulsion. The track attracted a whole lot of praise and buzz. RIVAH went on to play her debut shows in NYC and LA last fall, and she’s since shared the local stages with the likes of Willow Beats, Golden Vessel, and SAATSUMA. Transitional Love is her latest release, a breathtaking teaser track developed from a first-take demo vocal and accompanied by a DIY iPhone video released ahead of her next single out in June. It’s a weightless gliding, ethereal soothing pop song with transcendental vocals and beautifully haunting, feathery pulsing production.
