I’ve long noticed ages ago that Little Boots, or English singer songwriter and producer Victoria Christina Hesketh, is widely respected on all fronts by her peers. And if you’re at all familiar with her music, or have danced to her live, you probably know why. The incredibly talented artist returns this month with an appropriately named Shadows. It may be a long afternoon on the office, but I’m suddenly craving for a turn on a dark and sweaty dance floor as I bob to the glam disco meets dusky house banger. It’s a guttural pumping yet classy and chic dose of sheer hypnotic euphoria off Little Boots’ next EP. Those of you in San Francisco can dance to the track live come Friday, March 16th, when Little Boots joins Dim Mak vs Popscene at the Rickshaw Stop. Unfortunately, we’ll be in Austin for SXSW at that time. We can only hope that they’ll come back to SF for a second round sometime. You can also stream Shadows via Spotify, here.

It’s certainly “on” now that Dutch electronic project CUT_ has re-emerged from the shadows with their first new song in a year. The pair enthrall us with smoky vocals and dark entangling, grand swelling electronica on their gorgeous new trip hop and electro-pop offering, It’s On. A palisade of synths envelope us on the intoxicating and poetic examination of desperation, compromise, and sacrifice in the face of  ill-fated love. It’s On comes with news of CUT_’s new EP, Blind = Bliss, arriving March 2nd on PIAS. Re-visit CUT_’s prior songs on Soundcloud, here, as we look forward to Blind =  Bliss.

Here’s “how to” listen to ADN (Adien Lewis) and the California based singer songwriter and producer’s latest song: press play, melt and swoon. It’s no wonder this electronic track has been gaining lots of traction over the past couple of weeks already. How To melds smoky aching R&B pop with ravishing electronic production, interspersed with glitchy drumwork and whirling instrumentation, as well as ADN’s own gooey molten voice. How To’s buttery sheen and lush synths make this a can’t miss track from the rising artist, who’s well knwon for his covers and remixes but is obviously making an impression with his originals prowess, too. The single is the second track from ADN’s EP, ‘TAKE TWO’.

We must be on a brief French kick of sorts this afternoon. From our prior share of Her’s latest single, we now hop to Parisian producer Fakear’s new track, Lost In Time, featuring Clément Bazin, Noraa, and Polo & Pan. Faker has given us amazing remixes and songs in the past. His edit of Odesza’s Say My Name is still one of my favorites. But the dexterous producer has chosen to straddle the line between both effervescent electronica and soulful pop on his latest offering, a sultry grooving treat with an island sparkle. Lost In Time is taken from Fakear’s new album, dropping April 13th on Counter Records. Stream/download Lost In Time, here.

It feels as if we’ve waited a lifetime to see Her live. On May 12th, we’ll meet our destiny as the French band finally makes their way to San Francisco to headline Cafe du Nord. It’ll be a bittersweet experience, after the tragic loss of founding band member Simon, but it will be a glorious one, too, as you well know if you’ve been keeping up with our shares of their soulful pop and funky electro-rock in the past. Her will be serving up their self titled full length album on March 30th, and they’ve recently shared a magnificent new song named Neighborhood. It’s a must for fans of Jungle, Formation, and even Jack Garratt or HONNE. Pre-order Her’s debut album, here.

In the past week or so, CHVRCHES has been teasing us about a forthcoming single featuring Matt Berninger of The National as a guest. As huge fans of both bands, we couldn’t wait to hear the track. Today, we get to listen to My Enemy, a new taste from CHVRCHES’ next album Love Is Dead. And as expected, it’s left me with chills. Droopy retro synths and Matt Berninger’s deep rolling voice join Lauren Mayberry and the Scottish electro-pop projects’ signature sound on the aching tune. For CHVRCHES, this is downtempo and morose, but what else would you expect with Matt Berninger in tow? It’s a nice change of pace for a band who’s scintillated us with their upbeat pulsing anthems, and I can’t get enough of its slick production. We’re still waiting on more information regarding that next CHVRCHES album, but we’re pre-ordering it the moment the chance arrives!

I woke up to huge news from Liverpool electroclash legends Ladytron this morning, and it was a fantastic way to kick off my day. It’s been seven long years since the four piece has graced us with new music. Today, they’ve announced their next album, to be crowdfunded via PledgeMusic (and there are tons of sumptuous goodies to grab, too). Its lead single is just what long time fans of the band have been craving for all this time. Crisp and icy, propulsive and synth heavy The Animals brings us a massive dose of that trademark Ladytron sound at a time when we’re definitely missing this electro charged sound in the new music scene. Their PledgeMusic campaign allows us to pre-order the single on limited edition seven inch vinyl, as well as pre-order their new album and snag a bunch of other exclusive items.

Australian alt band Chase Atlantic are known for their dark alternative pop, heavily saturated with both rock and R&B. The trio of brothers and pals more than slay on their latest single, Swim, a much electro-R&B leaning syrupy jam that comes with a nebulous video soaked fittingly in a purple haze. Swim is lifted from their self titled album from last year, which can be streamed and purchased via all major platforms, here.

I can’t believe the music portion of SXSW starts in less than two weeks. This means, I get to see Montreal’s Men I Trust for the very first time in two weeks, and I’m really excited for the chance to take in the band’s dreamy wafting, hazy grooving tunes live. Just in time for the bedazzlement comes Men I Trust’s first song of the year, a slow grooving, silky gliding song gem named Show Me How. The languorous delight even arrives with a video directed by the band themselves. Keep up with Men I Trust on tumblr, here. I vote for the band to play The Roadhouse if David Lynch decides to bring back Twin Peaks for a fourth season. They’d be perfect, alongside the likes of Au Revoir Simone, the Chromatics, and other acts forever entwined in the DNA of the show, don’t you think?

We’re really glad we picked up on WIINSTON when the Danish duo released their second single Mio last year. It was immediately obvious that the two buzzing artists were ones to watch in the ever burgeoning Danish R&B soul scene. The pair has since signed to Capitol Records, and now they’ve released a hazy simmering first single on the imprint named Rosa. The aching, yearning R&B soul slow burner is accompanied by an engrossing music video directed by Jaochim Morre and Søren Kahr. Late night despair abounds on the murky swirling burner, which can be found on iTunes, here.
