OFFICIAL VID: MARLENE – Bon Voyage

July 31, 2013

I guess we’re staying in Scandinavia for the moment and having a heckuva female musician streak with the last few posts. MARLENE is yet another fresh, new pop artist to come our way from Sweden. Her debut single Bon Voyage is a must listen and a beautiful, light song. It’s sun drenched with endless tropical beats and warm synths. And boy, am I digging it. That chorus is going to be stuck in my head, for sure! The very fitting music video for the track is directed by Sikow. Bon Voyage will not be out as a single until sometime in August.

Oh Land – Renaissance Girl

July 31, 2013

Yes! Uber talented Danish musician Oh Land is back with a great new single named Renaissance Girl. The track, which debuted on Noisey, was released on Dave Sitek’s new label Federal Prism which has had a busy day what with the release of his own TV on the Radio single this morning. Renaissance Girl is an immensely infectious electropop song. I think I’ve fallen for Oh Land all over again. It’ll be on her album Wish Bone out on September 24.

OFFICIAL VID: Indiana – Smoking Gun

July 31, 2013

Holy smokes! Check out this new artist out of the UK named Indiana. Her new single Smoking Gun starts out delicately, showcasing her mesmerizing, haunting vocals. Then some bass kicks in and whoa, buddy! The song just takes off, complete with its fair share of wobbling. It’s a very dark, expressive track, and as always, dark appeals to me right away. I have a feeling she’s going to make her mark on the UK charts. In some ways, Smoking Gun reminds me of a more electric version of Meg Myers’ Heart Heart Head, which is a creepy, ferocious song I absolutely adore. Also listen to the exquisite but also baleful Animal from earlier this year below. Keep an eye on Indiana!

K.Flay is gearing up to release another new EP next week titled What If It Is. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed all her music so far, so I’m looking forward to it. She unveiled her latest single off the coming EP, the hypnotic Rawks. It’s an eerie track that certainly displays her distinctive production and rhyming style. It’s too bad I have to miss her on tour with Icona Pop in San Francisco end of August. I’d love to see both those acts tear it up again with their endless, fun spunk at The Fillmore and grab a sure to be cool Fillmore poster. I’ll be at Burning Man then, sorry gals. Can you please reschedule or come back soon? 😉

New The Kickdrums EP Still Logic

July 31, 2013

The Kickdrums is Alex Fitts, a Brooklyn based musician who has also produced some work for other artists. He released a new three track EP today titled Still Logic. Check out the synthy, moody opening track Atonement below. You can grab the EP on iTunes or on Amazon. I’ll also share the other two catchy album tracks, Fake Guns and the lead single Thinking Out Loud below, but Atonement is most definitely my favorite of the three.
