We were fast fans of slenderbodies when the California indie pop duo released their EP fabulist half a year back, a collection of songs that includes Anemone. I’m still much addicted to the slinky puckered, dreamy gleaming indie gem that feels kind of like Glass Animals mixed with Foals, Alt-J, Hundred Waters, and The Antlers. You can re-visit Anemone with us below. But before you do that, I highly recommend you check out slenderbodies’ brand new remix of ZHU’s Hometown Girl. They’ve given the track a brilliant indie electronic re-work that falls right in line with the smooth funk and slick guitars found on their originals. The remix is an indie house treat, a sublimely soothing yet muggy searing jam that evokes a cross between Portugal. the Man and Milky Chance.

Tep No has been our go to when it comes to soothing chill house and organic indie electronica for many a year. The Toronto songcrafter, beatmaker, and musician takes us to cloud nine with his new song, Toluca Lake, which he co-wrote with our Los Angeles faves, progressive soul artist Brandyn Burnette and pop chanteuse Molly Moore. Toluca Lake is a lush yet laid back saunter and a dreamy wistful heartstring tugger. You can snag the song from major outlets, here.

Today’s a very special day. Not only is it one of my favorite ghoulish holidays, Halloween, but a surprise new Gorillaz track has surfaced, too! Garage Palace features hip hop sensation Little Simz on guest vocals, and it comes with an awesome animated music video in which she fights zombies alongside the band. The track comes off of the deluxe vinyl release of Humanz, due out as a “Super Deluxe Vinyl Boxset” on November 3rd. Pre-order, here. Garage Palace is available, here.

Mystery abounds as an enigmatic new project who goes by the name of Annaland makes a striking entrance with dusky haunting, celestial burbling electronica and future pop on Tokyo. Whether this is a singer songwriter project, or a producer and a singer songwriter group, I really have no idea, though I’m guessing it’s the latter. What I do know is that this song, Tokyo, is quite the exquisite spellbinder, dripping with bittersweet emotion and pulsing with vitalic spryness. You can also take the debut for a spin on Spotify, here.

As much as I’ve been missing UK duo IYES, I’ve also been grateful for Melis’ solo project and her exquisite tunes. The half Czech, half Turkish singer songwriter entrances us with her delicate indie pop and willowy enchanting voice on organic new single Holding Hands. It’s a gently affecting, airy lithe beauty steeped in lonesome melancholy and heartbreak. Holding Hands will be on Melis’ debut EP, Parellels, which you can pre-order on limited 10″ grey vinyl, here. Watch the captivating music video for the single below.

MisterWives just wrapped up their successful (of course) Connect The Dots US Tour a week ago, which was their largest headlining tour to date. The NYC indie pop outfit lead by vocalist Mandy Lee far from ready to take a break from the scene. In fact, they’ve shared a brand new jam named Never Give Up On Me, and it’s a bonafide synth florid, bass bumping alt bop full of fiery infectiousness and punchy, glossy spunk. I doubt there’d ever be a reason to “give up” on MisterWives, they’ve cemented themselves these past several years as an indie pop mainstay. Never Give Up On Me is out now on Republic.

I suppose you could say I’m “glued” to Elle Watson and her pristine pop. The English singer songwriter re-unites with esteemed producer Clams Casino on her latest single. We find ourselves utterly addicted to Glued’s dark mournful beats and Elle Watson’s ever enthralling, flawlessly stirring voice. Stormy yet graceful Glued continues to demonstrate the Londoner’s grasp on sophisticated yet haunting pop, and it comes with a magnificent music video directed by Haris Nukem whose entangled bodies remind me of a classic painting… statuesque and stony yet sensual and body-centric. Glued is available, here.

All of the covers on Tegan and Sara’s new album are amazing. Plus, The Con X: Covers, a celebration of the Canadian twins’ beloved 2007 album The Con, features an endless array of star talent we adore. Let’s take our time to dive into this beautiful cover of Dark Come Soon by who else, but our favorite Canadian pop artist Grimes and her friend and fellow edgy pop talent, HANA. Dark Come Soon gets a wispy fragile, dark emotive metamorphosis on the lissome haunting cover. The Con X: Covers is available, here, and it also features tracks by MUNA, Shura, Mykki Blanco, PVRIS, Ryan Adams, Bleachers, CHVRCHES, and many, many more. All proceeds from The Con X: Covers benefit The Tegan and Sara Foundation, which fights for health, economic justice, and representation for LGBTQ girls and women.

Sharp slicing, synth sinuous pop greets our ears as we delve into an exceptional debut single from a Australian artist who goes by the name of RIVAH. She turns in an effortless performance on Untame, a dusky glistening electro R&B debut co-produced by Rip Norman (Jarryd James) and Eric J (Chet Faker, Flume). Untame blooms slowly and meticulously, sensuously and intensely. Its heat grows tenfold with every new progression. It awakens our own emotions and longings and escalates them wild and “untamed” heights. RIVAH says of her debut: “We actually wrote this song the day that Prince died – I went into the studio with my producer and we were both gutted, so we decided to pump his music at full blast and dance around the studio like crazy people.” Keep up with RIVAH, who’s inspired by the likes of SZA, Lauryn Hill, Selah Sue, and Chance the Rapper, on Facebook, here.

Our favorite Danish pop sensation, MØ, surprised the world with an EP last Friday, her first record since 2014 debut full length No Mythologies To Follow took us by storm. The six song release is entitled When I Was Young, and she’s been working on its songs for the past four years. The title track is a brassy, frisky pop dalliance much different from her old electronic pop and dancehall fare. The smoldering electronica and funky soulful pop jam feels like a collaboration with Brasstracks or GRiZ.

‘s new EP explores themes of nostalgia, escaping from reality, and coming of age. Preview on Soundcloud, here.
