Though Cherry Glazerr’s Nurse Ratched has been around as a B-side since 2014, the Los Angeles based indie rock trio has plans to include the tune on their new album, Apocalipstick, a record long time fans are looking forward to with much excitement since it’s been years since their last full length. A macabre new video arrived today for Nurse Ratched, and it happens to be perfect for Halloween. Nurse Ratched itself is also a deliciously dark and blusterous garage punk piece well worth falling in love with all over again as we await Apocalipstick, due out January 20th on Secretly Canadian. Pre-order, here.

It’s one of my favorite weekends of the year, when goblins and ghouls, witches and werewolves come out in droves to play. Who else but enigmatic electronic genius k?d would put us in exactly the right mood to celebrate with a creepy dark new original? Mortem is a jolting explosion of eerie electro. It punches hard and buzzes strong, leaving a trail of quivering exhilaration with every one if its crepuscular beats. If Justice were to throw a haunted house party for Halloween, I’d expect to hear something as gloriously spooky as Mortem. Snag the haunting thriller for free from Toneden.

LA based producer Dr. Fresch professes his love for Destructo’s Eminem sampling smash hit Techno by giving the deep electro banger a fresh and wild remix. And by wild, I mean rowdy insane. Labeled “future ghetto”, this edit will bounce you sky high with its steely acidic future house and nasty wicked g-house. He explains of the track: "I’ve been in love with Destructo’s ‘Techno’ since the first time I heard it – I think midtempo electro and deeper indie dance are taking off, and I wanted to give the original my own rework. I liked how Destructo grabbed the sample from Eminem’s ‘Without Me’, and decided to use more of that sample to build the song around. I kept the tempo at 112BPM, but decided to get more complex and weird with my bass arrangement – I hope my Fresch Fam love this remix as much as I do!“ If you’ve been a lazy couch potato so far this weekend, Dr. Fresch will have you up and energized in no time, ready for a hyperactive Saturday. I’m pretty bummed I missed out on the sold out homecoming show K.Flay just played last night at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco. From all accounts, it was spectacular, which comes as expected. At least I’ll be able to catch the Stanford alumnus and genre bending hip hop and electronic genius at Live 105′s Not So Silent Night festival later in December. In the meantime, some fabulous remixes of her dark twisting, raw thrilling single Blood In The Cut have been arising. NYC’s Aire Atlantica offers up a steady jabbing edit that I find fresh and compelling. This remix stays true to the original’s buzzing edge, but it delivers that shadowy rough mettle with an added layer of hypnotic slicing future bass splendor. K.Flay’s grimy Blood In The Cut and Aire Atlantica’s remix seem a fine way ring in the weekend, right before Halloween.

Heads up, everyone (ahem, me) who loved Pluto and ye.’s transcendental collaboration Breath when it arrived several months ago. A new vocal mix of the track has arrived, and it’s absolutely sensational! Just when I thought I couldn’t fall any harder for the chopping, slicing, percolating future trap opus, these young production whizzes present us with Feel The Fire, adding fierce vocals by a mysterious singer in the process. Pluto and ye. have added fuel to this What So Not meets Odesza inferno, and it burns bright and magnificent. Snag the tense consuming track for free, here.

It seems not many have caught wind of the new Jacob Montague project as of now, but I have a feeling that could change very quickly once word gets out. Some might recognize Jacob Montague as Branches, the gifted producer and musician from San Francisco. He now makes his debut as tsutro with an ethereal first song named Back To You. This effervescent future garage enchanter evokes incredible producers like Jamie xx, Flume, SBTRKT, and Mura Masa with exotic chimes and a dreamy chromatic texture. Los Angeles electropop project Sunday Lane lends airy celestial vocals to the song, giving it an extra boost of other worldly beauty. Though Back To You is but our first appetizing taste of tsutro’s sound, Jacob is already readying a self titled full length for our eager ears. The LP is set to drop February 10th via Positron Music.

Los Angeles alt pop trio The Federal Empire has quickly risen to be one of the most exciting emerging indie bands of the moment. They just released a stellar debut EP today named The American Dream, and though I’m itching to wax poetic over that gem of a record, you’ll have to wait till later this weekend to hear me babble about it. For now, we’re diving into their collaboration with celebrated Dutch producer Martin Garrix, Hold On & Believe. The song is a heartfelt dance anthem, one which The Federal Empire themselves told me they feel is an important song for everyone struggling. It’s indeed a lifting and inspiring song, one with grand builds and majestic progressions. A proverbial sun rises in my mind and bathes everything with golden optimism as my spirit rises to Martin Garrix’s feel good progressive house. The Federal Empires’ earthy endearing vocals emit a warm glow as they accompany us like old friends through this magnanimous journey. Hold On & Believe is out now on iTunes.

Party Pupils continue to come at us strong with the exact sort of soiree ready dance music that we’d expect from their name. Except, they’re really more like “party masters” than “pupils”. If anyone’s a student here, it’s us. The quickly rising Los Angeles duo teaches us how to rage properly with their racy provocative future funk. New song Pony is a galloping stallion of a disco glitzy, R&B sensuous spectacular. This juicy sumptuous dance banger is well worth getting up and partying the night away to at someone’s swanky bachelor pad, any day of the week. Pony is a free download, here.

It’s been awhile since we’ve last heard an original from New Yorker Fareoh, and now I fully understand why. It’s because he’s been hard at work on fabulous new musi. We now get to reap the benefits of our patience as we launch our bodies sky high to the ebullient beats of Illegal, a radiant dance banger that features lofty soaring vocals by singer songwriter and actress Katelyn Tarver. The two make a perfect pair on this tropical lavish, polished sparkling song. The lush springing jam is about being attracted to things “off limit or out of reach”. Fareoh captures that edge-of-the-seat excitement to the fullest with his titillating song.
