The other day, we were celebrating the return of English folktronica band Tunng by sharing their ace new single ABOP. I’d imagine the band must be pretty busy considering the new album they’re preparing to drop this summer, yet Tunng’s Mike Lindsay has found time to form a new band with celebrated folk singer songwriter Laura Marling. The pair, who’ve named themselves LUMP, already have a self-titled debut album arriving on June 1st via Dead Oceans. They’ve shared a second single from the record, which like their first single Curse of the Contemporary, comes accompanied by a music video starring a big red expressive and lonely yeti of sorts. Watch the big fellow dance around with a mop to melancholic aching, lush orchestral Late To The Flight, an atmospheric and unhurried beauty that slowly settles itself deep within your soul. You can pre-order/pre-save LUMP’s debut album, here.

Much revered and beloved British folk artist Laura Marling recently announced her fifth full length album, Short Movie, to be released on March 24 via Ribbon Music. She also revealed the title track off the album by unleashing a gorgeous animated film for the song. It’s a must watch if you like earnest, heartfelt music with ornate layers of instruments, but also if you love horses.

OFFICIAL VID: Laura Marling – Devil’s Resting Place

And now for some excellent, brooding folk rock from critically acclaimed British darling Laura Marling! Devil’s Resting Place is dark, and the cinematic music video released today is just as dark. In fact, it’s literally so dark I almost want to adjust the contrast on my monitor. But it’s all good, because sinister and ghoulish is right up my alley. The foreboding tune is as fantastic as it is haunting. It’s a song that stays with you long after you listen to it. Laura Marling’s fourth studio album Once I Was An Eagle was just nominated for a Mercury Music Prize in the UK, along with so many other amazing albums.

New Laura Marling

Yep, and there’s new Laura Marling too. The new song titled Not Done Traveling is a very simple, folksy ditty. Watch her perform it with her custom made ukulele. It’s an endearing quiet piece.
