When I think of swans, I usually picture graceful and peaceful birds, quietly floating across idyllic ponds. But imagine a bevy of swans who believe they’re flamingos, strutting their way through a tropical paradise. I’m sure they’d love to dance days away to Aggressive Swans, an indie duo from Munich, Germany who’ve just released their second single before the new year. Neon 80s funk and glamorous nu-disco abounds on About You, a snazzy, flashy eruption of scintillating modern dance pop. Australian four piece Haiku Hands describes themselves as an elusive crew of artists who’s influence can be felt across live performance, visual art, and production. The intriguing quartet arrive with an edgy, ravey debut named Not About You. Dance, hip hop, and pop mesh as one on the high energy bop. It’s like a confluence of all that is manic electrifying and clamorous invigorating from The Ting Tings, CSS, Zebra Katz, and more, with a dose of Die Antwoord delirium and a hard Jersey bounce. Haiku Hands’ sassy, gutsy debut leaves us curious to learn more about the visual side of their artistry. They’ve been working with some of Australia’s finest writers and producers, such as El Gusto (Hermitude), Joelistics, Jaytee Hazard and Lewis Can Cut to form genre bending songs that span across a wide variety of genres.

Osca may have changed their name to Colouring, but there’s no mistaking the British band’s beautifully surging indietronica. New song About You walks a fine line between alternative and dance. It’s a rich pulsing, harmonic gliding opus on which Colouring’s silken falsettos airily entrance. About You twists and turns, coils and unwinds with much lush haunting magnificence. Some super rad remixes sure surfaced today. We follow up on the killer remix in our last feature with an edit of Penthouse Penthouse and Maribelle’s fizzy sweet jam, About You, by Australian duo Fortunes. This About You is extra steamy, its future R&B bounce more juicy and moist. Fortunes. even adds in an additional verse of their own, fully buttery sublime. The slick dapper remix feels more weighty and earnest compared to the more playful frisky original.

There are some incredibly skilled producers out in Paris, and having fallen in love with that city when I visited it for my very first time last Fall, I’m so tempted to make my way out there again and spend more time in its array of music venues so I can enjoy some more of this music live. Today, a French electro duo named Else captivated me for a good part of my day. I just couldn’t tear myself away from their music after I first encountered recent chill out single Mirage. They set my skin tingling, in a way that happens with acts like Odesza or Flume. It’s not often I share instrumental tracks on IHM, but Else is a must. Mirage is a beauty to behold, its whomping synths and sprightly future beats infinitely enchanting. Else obviously meant for the track to shimmer like a mirage, which it does, magnificently, with an air of wistfulness. Just like a mirage, the song will surely end and disappear. But it’s okay, because now you can dive into Else’s other tracks, like edgier, chime laden Chemical Face, or sensually smooth About You, which features Æther on sweet, honeyed vocals. Los Angeles based production duo Penthouse Penthouse links up with Melbourne’s Maribelle on a fizzy sweet tune named About You, its sultry R&B and steamy heat perfect for extending yesterday’s Valentine’s Day romance. Luxuriously funking groove and soft soothing soul undulate and oscillate on Lodnon based duo Fine Print’s About You. Eight months ago, Fine Print sent me a simple, mysterious email pointing me towards a song of the same name, which has subsequently been taken off and apparently, re-worked for this luscious re-launch. The flowing, sensual song is a cozy and romantic swooner that finishes off with some intimate, caressing sax. Fine Print will be releasing a debut EP this August.

With a name like Fine Print, I almost wrote off the mysterious newcomers’ email as spam, but I knew better than to not check the contents of emails before I trashed them. Boy am I glad I checked, because the anonymous new act dropped us a real gem in the form of seductive electronic and alt pop song About You. The track is complex and intricate, hushed and slinking, blending a mighty mix of 70’s funk, 80’s synths, and smoky, minimalist electronic, all ebbing and flowing into each other in an organic, dynamic flow. And, to top it all off, there’s a gorgeous, plush sax solo, too. Alright, Fine Print, you’ve have my attention and my ears.
