Melbourne crooner and producer Oscar Key Sung has been as far removed from “shallow” as can be over the three plus years we’ve been following him on his musical ascent. Though his new song is in fact named Shallow, there’s no dearth of depth to be found on this wondrous R&B pop and electronica hybrid. Aside from its satin swooning cooing, Shallow also overwhelms us with its rhythmic pumping resplendence. Glimmering island percussion add a golden luster to this silky thrumming current of heated desire and lovelorn torment. We dance in euphoria even as our hearts are wrenched at unmercifully. Shallow is out now on iTunes via Good Manners Records. Perhaps I’ll get to hear the song live if I’m fortunate enough to catch Oscar Key Sung at SXSW next month.

What else would you expect but luxurious music heaven when Basenji joins forces with satin voiced Oscar Key Sung for an aching electro R&B jam? About You is plush and fleecy, a glowing reverie full of twinkling piano and soft synth swells. It flickers and smolders like the candle mentioned in the song. About You is taken from Basenji’s Trackpad EP, out today on Future Classic.

Oscar Key Sung never fails at spellbinding me and intoxicating me with his music. The Australian producer builds on that with sensual new single Skip, which comes along with a music video directed by Ryan Alexander Lloyd. Skip is a somber electronic R&B track that glides along on Oscar’s pristine, steamy vocals and a thoroughly entrancing soundscape. The mellow track evokes some of the world’s favorite R&B acts of the moment, including The Weeknd and How To Dress Well. The hypnotic track is off Oscar Key Sung’s sophomore EP, Altruism, out May 1st.

Full of hypnotic rhythm and soft percussion that will get you itching to dance is Let’s Go To The Beach, a new single from Australian songstress Banoffee. As before, the drum work and exotic flavor of the song reminds me some of FKA Twigs, but its far more warm and laid back, not as solemn. In fact, Let’s Go To The Beach is quite the opposite. It’s a grooving jam that sits somewhere between meticulously enchanting and carefree relaxing. Banoffee’s self titled debut EP is out right now. Let’s Go To The Beach is the closing track. The opening track is the previously featured Oscar Key Sung produced Got It, a mysterious minimalist pop treat that blends that aforementioned FKA Twigs vibe with plenty of Sylvan Esso like charm.

Australia’s Banoffee is releasing her debut EP this August, and she’s finally unveiled a new track and lead single after Ninja and Reign Down first caught our attention at the very beginning of the year. Got It is, again, produced by Oscar Key Sung, and it’s a minimalist pop leaning electronic gem, filled with sparkling playfulness and ethereal wispiness. Revisit the shadowy, sensual Reign Down below, since it’s been awhile.

You can’t seriously think that we could go a day without some sick music by a dope Australian producer, right? Of course not! Today, we’ll check in on the talented Oscar Key Sung, who, other than releasing his own solo work lately, has been quite busy with producing other artists’ music, ie. Banoffee’s electronic R&B. Stream his shimmering song All I Could Do above, which showcases his slick, smooth crooning and some intricately textured production filled with layers of loops and pulsing synths. Oscar Key Sung is gearing up to release his debut solo EP, a six track effort, come early 2014. All I Could Do is one of many the tunes off the release.

OFFICIAL VID: Banoffee – Reign Down

Austrlian newcomer Banoffee has been on my watch list after her song Ninja fell on my ears. Her new song, Reign Down, produced by fellow Australian Oscar Key Sung, is an even more delicious and intoxicating listen. It’s filled with syrupy electronic production and Banoffee’s stunning, delicate vocals. Reign Down is a dark, shadowy electronic pop song flowing with R&B smoothness. Banoffee is working on a debut EP, slated for release early 2014. Watch the new video for Reign Down below, then check out the sugary Ninja too.
