Achingly beautiful collaboration between Imad Royal and FRND on their song ‘Love is Dead’. I don’t even feel like I’m getting friendzoned, which is easy to accept, but the pain of this track comes from the fact that this person is so stuck in their rhythm of love not working out that they’ve decided it’s dead and not even worth a try. Ugh, I can feel this song from both perspectives.

Love is but one of many nostalgic sadcore treats off of Lana Del Rey’s epic album Lust For Life. DJDS, aka the Los Angeles production duo of Jerome LOL and Samo Sound Boy (also known together as DJ Dodger Stadium) have linked up with Empress Of to cover the song, giving it a more beatific, dance oriented rendering with a spaciously slick, airy light veneer. The mid-tempo electronic affair is a thoroughly charming new approach on Love, and it comes accompanied by a lyric video. DJDS says they wanted to try their own version, so they put their sound in it to pay tribute to the inspiring song.

Toronto artist La+ch, one of our faves from a music cooperative we’ve extolled abundantly over the years named the ‘sideways collective’, is fast on the path to releasing a new EP. None, which arrives September 22nd via sideways / 604 Records, is shaping up to be an autumn must. Just listen to this phenomenal second taste from the record, a scintillating tropical house and R&B pop groover named Love. La+ch’s new song is an uplifting balm. It warms the heart, lifts the weight off our shoulders, and leaves us joyfully flushed with its silky smooth yet vibrant spirited vocals. In “love” I truly am again with La+ch and this balmy stimulating banger, which can be found on iTunes, here.

It’s a behemoth task to take on a Kendrick Lamar song, whether you’re trying to remix it, cover it, or completely re-imagine it, as Los Angeles based producer, singer, and multimedia artist Xie has triumphantly done.  XieflippedKendrick Lamar’s LOVE and made it all her own. She drenches the hip hop track in warm pastels and pulls it into airy effervescent future pop territory with a cover re-work both honey sweet and peppery piquant. Xie’s future bass LOVE sounds like a cross between Olivia O’brien and Terror Jr, and it’s a generous free download, here. You can also listen to the track on Spotify, here.

I want you to find my heart. ‘4U’ is a midnight love song put out for lover’s on Valentine’s Day a couple years back. It’s silky depiction of that stage in a relationship where you’re feeling the other person – you’re not sure if they want to take that leap but you’re so ready to dive in.

No idea who re:one is but I recently discovered this 10 month old flip of Tamia’s ‘So Into You’, mysteriously titled ‘untitlteduntitleduntitled’, and omg, what a soundcloud gem. That bass line emphasizes the joy of falling in love with someone.

A curtain of whirring haze greets us as we wade into Love, a widescreen shoegaze dazzler from Colour Of Spring. The reverb heavy single is a breathtaking expanse of dreamy nostalgia, and it falls right in line with my recent addiction to Slowdive’s immense new record. While much of that album was dark and cold, Colour Of Spring’s Love is radiates warmth and light. Love is from the UK band’s self titled EP, due out June 23rd via House Of Love Records. The band just released a music video for their bleary rippling song Echoes today, too. Watch the clip below. Love is available from iTunes, here.

The last time we heard from The Code, it was still winter. The UK duo warmed us up with their emotive surging, opulent swelling electro R&B on Same People. They’ve now returned, just as summer’s approaching, with a crisp quivering future R&B number named LOVE featuring R&B soul artist Kaleem Taylor on stunning falsettos. This cool hovering, sensuous simmering love song is perfect for the summer nights ahead, and it’s even more proof of The Code’s production and songcrafting genius. Re-visit the pair’s prior singles on Soundcloud, here.

The dark burbling electronic pop that envelops us on Stay For Real is as profound as it is haunting. Canadian dream pop veterans Young Galaxy released the track independently as a statement in regards to recent global events involving the refugee and U.S. election crises. They’ve even partnered up with Plus1 so that all net proceeds from the sale of the single go to defending the rights of the marginalized through PIVOT (Canada), ACLU (USA), and W.A.V. E. (EU). The underlying message in Stay For Real is that we must show empathy, compassion, and love, even when faced with increasing existential threats, and fear and hostility. Young Galaxy reminds us how important our moral fiber is while bewitching us with a diaphanous pulsing new gem, one which I just can’t get enough of. Stay For Real can also be streamed off Soundcloud below. Purchase from iTunes, here.

New York’s Fletcher has without a doubt been a favorite blooming pop superstar here at I Heart Moosiq for the past year. She holds on to that crown tightly with her unforgettable single Wasted Youth, a track off her 2016 EP Finding Fletcher. Just the song’s title in itself evokes tragedy and woe. Our hearts were ready for a pop pummeling even before the first time we dove into Wasted Youth’s mellifluous swelling flourishes. The singer songwriter channels the honeyed charm of Lana Del Rey, the dusky allure of XYLØ, and the immense hooks of Transviolet on her electro tinged dazzler, but there’s no mistaking the whole to be anything else but brightly blazing and iridescent dashing FLETCHER. A new music video arrived this week for Wasted Youth, and it tells a vivid and moving love story to crushing and heartrending effect. The video’s eloquence feels honest, its portrayal is more than intimate. It’s a powerful aphrodisiac that goes hand in hand with tenderly affecting lyrics like “it’s my life, if I’m gonna waste it, gonna waste it on you”. Fletcher’s Finding Fletcher EP can be purchased from iTunes.
