Betty Who joining Lemaitre on a fresh and funky new tune is a dream come true. We’ve been fans of the Australian pop sensation for a very long time, and we love the new music she’s been releasing now that she’s gone back to an independent career, too. She lends that irresistible voice to Norwegian electronic project Lemaitre’s scintillating new song, Rocket Girl, which was co-written with DagnyWe fly across the universe with them, riding high on Lemaitre’s French house-styled electro, so rife with sumptuous funk guitar and juicy plump synths. Suddenly, I’m imagining Grimes dancing to Rocket Girl alongside Elon Musk as he launches one of his Falcon 9′s. Seems fitting, doesn’t it? Rocket Girl has been tapped as the theme song for X Games Norway, which kicked off yesterday. Lemaitre will be performing at Sasquatch on May 25 and Austin City Limits Festival in October. French producer Bolivard has captured the essence of both funk in the jungle on his flashy new banger, Maya Funk. If Caribou, Cut Copy, and Daft Punk teamed up for a monumental jam session, it’d probably result in the glorious, glamorous disco funk and electro house that Bolivard has crafted for us on his sensational new tune. The artist, who’s also taken on the role of graphic designer and illustrator at newly minted label Cookie Records, inspires us to strut our way across the room in bliss to his lush dazzler. Maya Funk is the second single revealed off Cookie Records’ Crispy Groove Compilation. Visit the first single, Patawawa’s Lie, via our recent feature, here. Maya Funk is available, here.

One of my most epic evenings at SXSW this past March involved Cut Copy. It was the last night of my annual migration to Austin, and I had no idea what to do since most of my music buddies had already left. Serendipity brought me to the band’s headlining set on Rainey Street. I didn’t think I’d be able to get in to the show, since I expected a stupendously long line, but thanks to my music badge, I made it right in and danced to my heart’s content. And now, Cut Copy’s bassist Ben Browning has made a splendorous return with new solo music to keep me moving. We last heard from him two years ago when he dropped exuberant Friends Of Mine. Now he charms us aplenty with a new song appropriately named Sunshine Baby. It’s a golden luscious, sweetly candied, & kaleidoscopic twirling track that melds chromatic italo-wave with glamorous disco funk. Sunshine Baby will be on Ben Browning’s forthcoming sophomore album named Even Though. He says of his next  album, which arrives on June 22nd: “After listening to this record I hope people feel like they’ve gone on a smooth psychedelic journey through a colorful musical world. I wanted to create an album that people would want to play in their homes whilst cooking dinner or getting high and imagine what they’re hearing comes from a land created by Jim Henson – or perhaps they’re listening a lost George Harrison album recorded in the Caribbean and discovered on a VHS tape 30 years later."

Fresh off their collaboration with brassy electro-funk brothers French Horn Rebellion comes new Patawawa jam Lie, a swanky twirling disco banger through and through. Its French house swagger is as infectious as a classic Daft Punk jam, with a whole lot of frisky synths and scalding beats. Patawawa’s put out some fantastic songs in the past, but Lie might be their best yet. It’s a solid gold track that also reminds me of some of my favorite Flight Facilities tracks of yore, due to its rich, sultry vocals and its plucky attitude. LIE is the first song revealed from Cookie Records’ new compilation Crispy Groove, out in early June. Download/stream Patawawa’s swag new tune, here.

Bust out your dancing shoes and get ready for something chic and sexy as we dive into Super Flat’s Move On. Moving is a requirement when it comes to the Knoxville synthpop and dance pop artist’s glossy sleek jam, which carries hints of Chromeo’s dapper electro-funk and swanky disco pop, but smoothed out with Cut Copy’s shiny veneer. For another taste of Super Flat’s super pop, check out last year’s Land of Dreams below, and shimmy your heart out to its luscious groove. Move On is available, here.

Client Liaison is back, and we have Flight Facilities to thank for first notifying us of their return on Twitter yesterday. The two projects do seem to share a love for all things disco and everything electro glam, so it’s no big surprise that these two have an Australian bromance. Let’s not forget they’ve teamed up for shows in the past, too. Client Liaison makes a stylish return on Survival In The City, a spacey, funky synthpop number with a whole lot of spicy, brassy pizzazz, doused in wavy nostalgia. The song is the duo’s first since their 2016 debut album Diplomatic Immunity, and hopefully the first of many new ones to come. Survival In The City’s arrival coincides with the launching of a show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia next Wednesday, May 16th in Sydney, where they’ll debut their Client Liaison Deluxe Line Resort 2018 fashion collection for the very first time. The single can be streamed/purchased via all major outlets, here.

We’ve been fans of Future Classic-signed Australian singer songwriter and producer Hayden James for a very, very long time. In fact, our love for his debut single Permission to Love has never faltered or faded, and it’s still one of our favorites today. So when a new Hayden James song crops up, we prepare ourselves for some true music magic, which is exactly what we get on Just Friends, which features creamy crooner Boy Matthews on guest vocals. Just Friends straddles the line between vivacious dance music and Years & Years like upbeat R&B pop with its pumping bass and incendiary disco beats. Download/stream this glorious Hayden James return, here. Then dance the night away to the friend-zone anthem.

Life feels a little bit less solitary and far less lonely when accompanied by marvelous music, which is exactly what Lonely Benson serves up on his fresh new synthpop, chill disco, and psych pop jam, Let It Go. The plush grooving, sultry smoldering tune is the Nashville artist’s first single of the year. It undulates, surges, and swells, all the while winding through an intricate array of incendiary guitar work, jazzy keys, effects-laced vocals, and an infectiously lush, spacey whirring atmosphere. Let It Go arrives alongside the release of Lonely Benson’s Will Pugh produced full-length debut, featuring fan favorites like psychedelic Location and Spotify smash hit Strawberry Afternoons. If you’re in the mood for some throwback disco pop and lustrous electropop, Make You Happy’s going to do just that. Los Angeles duo Chris Boulous and Ryan George, better known together as BETABLOCK3R, make a ravishing return on their new single. Crisp pumping synths and sleek vocals bring us a welcome dose of nostalgia while inspiring us to get up and dance. The track will be on BETABLOCK3R’s new EP, Monolith. RAC meets Nile Rodgers on the glamorous jam, out now on Apple Music, here.

Saturday was a wild one here in San Francisco, with countless frustrating show conflicts. If we could have cloned ourselves and gone to everything, we would’ve have. Unfortunately, prior commitments kept us from hitting up the Chromeo show, which we heard was an epic soiree, with Phantoms opening, too. I’m sure the celebrated Montreal electro-funk and nu-disco purveyors dropped their new single with DRAM, Must’ve Been. And I’m sure it was received with much zeal and a whole lot of dancing. At least we get to get down and groovy to the track anytime we want, now that Dave 1 and P-Thugg have dropped a music video for the song off their forthcoming album Head Over Heels. Summery bongos and Chromeo’s signature electro swagger permeate the proper banger. New album Head Over Heels hits the shelves on June 15th. Chromeo will hit the road on an expansive tour this summer, too. Maybe we’ll get to catch them then and make up for missing their headlining show this past weekend. Must’ve Been is available, here.
