I know I just shared Mew’s latest album reveal some features back, but this remix of their single, Water Slides, by Manchester’s NO CEREMONY/// (who have been rather silent of late, it seems), is another must share. NOC// takes the Danish quartet’s song and gives it a deeply entrancing and gliding indie electronic re-work, sure to intoxicate with its dreaminess and woozy guitars. It’s a reminder that I miss NOC///’s haunting, beautiful electronic pop. The original will be on Mew’s new album “+-”, out April 27th via Play It Again Sam.

OFFICIAL VID: NO CEREMONY/// – WARSONGS

December 4, 2013

Yesterday, I shared a video for Manchester band NO CEREMONY///’s haunting beauty AWAYFROMHERE featuring James Vincent McMorrow. The song is off their self titled debut from earlier this year, which I very much loved. Turns out, they released the video yesterday to announce a double A-side single. The other A-side? Another breathtaking album track WARSONGS. WARSONGS is a lush, brighter, but still foggy track. It’s one of their more uplifting songs, leaving a feeling of hopefulness. Below is the new video for the resplendent tune.

I’m a pretty big fan of Manchester band NO CEREMONY///’s music. I enjoyed every track off their self titled debut album a few months ago. As featured several times on I Heart Moosiq, their electronic pop music is atmospheric, thick, and heavy on bittersweet beauty. I obviously have a soft spot for gorgeous, haunting music, and these guys dish it up in spades. Just watch their new video for debut album track AWAYFROMHERE which features Irish musician James Vincent McMorrow on make you melt vocals (which he’s a veteran expert at).

OFFICIAL VID: NO CEREMONY /// – PARTOFME

August 16, 2013

Manchester’s NO CEREMONY is gearing up to release their self titled debut album come September 2 on their very own record label NOC///. PARTOFME is off that sure to be incredible full length. The enveloping track is deliciously lush and synthy. In it, the trio continue their dramatic, atmospheric, haunting sound that has been center stage in their previous tunes. I featured some of those tunes before, but now is certainly a good time to share a few of them again below the new video for PARTOFME. NO CEREMONY also previewed another new track a few days ago named HEAVYHOUR. The song is far more airy and less bass heavy. It’s a gorgeous, almost Bon Iver-ish tune. That one’s below, as well. These guys are fantastic. I love their sound. I’m getting that debut album, no hesitation.

Sweet. Manchester act No Ceremony did a remix for their fellow Manchester buddies The 1975 and made this sick electric version of their song The City. The 1975 are another band that I’m greatly looking forward to catching live come July, I really adore so many of their tunes. They have an EP out right now titled IV and a self titled debut album is in the works for September. If ya haven’t heard the original edit of The City yet, listen below. I’m pretty sure I shared it before. I know I’ve shared several of The 1975’s other synthy alt rock/pop tunes. So good.

As for No Ceremony, it’s about time I got around to posting a few of their good songs. I’ve only had them as part of mixtape shares on here previously. FEELSOLOW is an excellent track that starts out very moody dark wave-ish before it satisfyingly explodes with synthy energy. HurtLove is also a gorgeous synthpop song. Heartbreaker starts off almost How To Destroy Angels like with that grating electric synthline, but goes far more into pop territory as the electronic rock song progresses. Yummy. Bands to watch for sure. Wow, this is the second time within a week where stumbling on a good remix lead to a mega post about both bands involved.

I’ll finish up for now with a mixtape from relatively new indie band Mausi from the UK. Titled J’aime La Musique Relaxe, you can probably guess it’s a smooth, chill mix. Not uber fall asleep relaxing, it still has a great beat to sway to at times. It’s a gorgeous mix for destressing and forgetting your worries… Just sink into the pillowy music and let it carry you away. As always, these mixtapes have epic tracklistings. Check it:

1. Body Language – You Can
2. Breakbot – Make You Mine
3. Daft Punk – Something About Us
4. Phoenix – North
5. The Strokes – You Only Live Once (demo)
6. Coeur de Pirate – Comme des enfants
7. Ella Fitzgerald – These Foolish Things (Remind Me Of You)
8. Nils Frahm – Felt
9. Washed Out – New Theory (RAC remix)
10. Gold Panda – Marriage
11. College (ft. Electric Youth) – A Real Hero
12. No Ceremony/// – Hurtlove
13. Alt-J – Bloodflood
14. Frank Ocean – Strawberry Swing
15. Bon Iver – I Can’t Make You Love Me (4AD Session)

Whooo, way too many great songs and artists!

Picking up the beat again, by a LOT. Here’s Diplo’s Triple J Radio mix lasting over 30 minutes long and consisting of some sweet tracks and artists. Ya ready? Diplo in da HOUSE! This is a veryyy good mix if you’re feeling like some electronic hip hop and r&b stuff. VERY good. On a related note, I miss me some Major Lazer… hmmm…
