This next magnificent beast of a rocking tune comes from Little Brother Eli, a band from Oxford described as “often bearded”. Facial hair or not, it’s quickly apparent why this band’s growling guitars, danceable beats, electro breakdowns, and contagious pop hooks have caught the attention of both BBC Introducing and BBC Radio 2, as well as countless other tastemaking outlets. Our Kind Of Love is a snarling, smoldering, yet melodically bopping piece that evokes both Arctic Monkeys and early, funky Maroon 5. Little Brother Eli just made an appearance at The Great Escape Festival and they have a handful of other shows planned in the UK this summer. Keep up with the band via their website, here.

The virtues of being a VIRTU fan are endless. That much has been more than apparent after his stunning performances on both remixes and originals. And now, the Los Angeles based electronic artist has taken on Imad Royal and Mark Johns’ sensational rendition of Nirvana’s Heart-Shaped Box for his latest track. VIRTU’s remix starts out slow and deliberate, building ever so intensely towards its mind melting drop. Dubstep and electro house interweave on the glorious edit. Shuddering bass and laser-cut synths leave us trembling in bliss. Why can’t there be more rock and electronica crossovers like this magnificent electro grunge track? Download/stream the track, here.

It’s a splendid Friday for fans of Phantogram like me. Sarah Barthel and Josh Carter have surprised us with two new tracks, one an original, one a Sparklehorse cover. All proceeds from the new two-track single go to a very good cause, one that’s far too relevant lately considering all the dear people we’ve been losing, both in our personal lives and within the music scene. The single benefits the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). For Sarah Barthel, who lost her own sister to suicide back in 2016, this is all too personal. Steam new song Someday above, which sees the typically trip hop and electro-rock duo go a dreamy meditative route. Their gorgeous cover of Sparklehorse’s Saturday can be streamed below.

Parade Of Lights is back with a new EP named Human Condition Pt 1. New song Tangled Up is even featured on the soundtrack for season 2 of Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why. The Los Angeles synthrock/alt pop outfit deliver a iridescent pulsing treat in the song, inspired by desire and obsession. For another taste from Parade Of Light’s new EP, stream infectious Inside My Head below, which erupts extravagantly with volatile choruses, new wavy synths, and glistening instrumentation. Both tracks are exhilarating cuts off Parade Of Lights’ new EP. The new 13 Reasons Why Season 2 soundtrack is available, here. Parade Of Light’s new EP can be found, here.

One of the first things I did this morning after I got up was listen to the new Nine Inch Nails (whilst doing some planks, because I really need to, because I’m like way too out of shape lately, but I digress). Dark muddy God Break Down The Door raised my heart-rate in an instant. Frantic drums and glowering vocals abound on the wicked track, which even boasts some incredibly spectral saxophone. It’s a song that reminds me of NIN’s stint on Twin Peaks: The Return. It would’ve fit right in with the haunting performance they turned in on the cult television series. I have a feeling Lynch is really digging the new offering, which ventures deep into electro punk territory alongside its industrial electro-rock. God Break Down The Door is our first scowling, snarling taste from NIN’s next full length, Bad Witch, arriving June 22nd on Capitol Records. Pre-order the long awaited return, here. Oh, and by the way, happy birthday, Trent Reznor.

Slick synth tendrils and waxy robust, lustrous oozing vocals take our breath away on Loud Magic, a glamorous prowling new song from nomadic pop duo Foreign Air. The silence-breaker and pattern-destroyer truly lives up to its name with its resounding assertiveness. Loud Magic is the latest magnificent single from the forward thinking pair, who have a knack for crafting haute anthems permeated with sleek, potent electronica. Loud Magic is emphatic and indulgent. It’s a song of excess, debauchery, and revelry, or a pagan canticle that’s near convinced us to worship Foreign Air as gods. They must live up in those very clouds we’re stretching so far to reach while urged on by this charged sonic catalyst. Foreign Air embarked today on tour with another IHM favorite, Bishop Briggs. Loud Magic can be streamed/downloaded, here.

Galvanizing indeed is this 18 year old producer’s music, who’s been making waves in the EDM community back home in Wisconsin for awhile now, having built a mass of followers all across major music platforms with his prior releases. The young talent, who goes by the name of Galvanic, has more than caught our ears with an inky dark, gritty snarling new release named Ghost that melds together future bass, trap, electro-rock, and darkwave. It’s the producer’s first release in well over a year, and hopefully it won’t be his only single in 2018 considering how much we’re hooked on the spectral blaze that is Ghost. You can find the single on Apple Music, here.

NYC alt electro purveyors 8 Graves has been dazzling us with their creative forte and scintillating, genre-defying music for a couple of years now, but they’ve certainly taken their sound to a whole new level of anthemic sweeping grandeur on new single SOS. 8 Graves fittingly tags the track “future grunge”, having fused stratospheric future bass with gritty pop and explosive rock on the high vaulting epic. SOS arrives on the heels of their last single, Hang, which took off with over a million streams on Spotify and placement on some of their biggest curated playlists. SOS can also be streamed via Spotify, here.

FUKC already feels like an in-your-face no-punches-pulled sort of name, and the new project certainly leaves it all on the floor and hits us hard with slinky prowling Time To Kill, a darkwave-inflected alt electro/electro-rock thriller that broods stupendously and flexes some major production muscle. It’s a predator of a track, with stalking beats and electrifying rumbles. New duo FUKC consists of Parisian producer DEVOTED and British vocalist Billionaire, who previously proved to be a match made in heaven on their song together, Santa Fe. They’ve chosen to continue that partnership as FUKC, and we can’t be more pleased with this news. The visceral, lascivious single comes on the heels of FUKC’s debut single last month, My Father’s Son, which you can stream below. You can find both tracks on Apple Music, here.

Have you ever wondered about re-incarnation, and what sort of life you used to lead if it existed? I have a feeling I must have loved music the last time I walked this earth, too, and I probably would have loved Step Rockets in that past life, too. The Minneapolis outfit brings those sentiments to life on their new single, Past Life, a vibrantly slick, potent throbbing synthrock anthem that we’re hoping heralds a whole new string of releases from the band. Past Life is available from iTunes, here.
