I know I’ve already gushed over how amazing FINNEAS was in a church at SXSW, so let’s just move on to his hauntingly beautiful new single, shall we? The Los Angeles based singer songwriter and actor transfixes us with a transcendental new hymnal named Life Moves On as he exudes exquisite vulnerability and heartfelt ardency. The esteemed rising artist, who’s also the genius behind his sister Billie Eilish’s debut EP “don’t smile at me” (he co-wrote and produced hit songs like “ocean eyes”, “bellyache”, and “watch”) just finished up a run of shows playing with Billie on her sold out world tour. Finneas O’Connell has more than stepped out in the spotlight on his own with his string of heart-wringing ballads. Life Moves On is a melancholic love song, a poignantly moving, earnestly affecting serenade by a gifted artist to watch. Re-visit our previous FINNEAS features, here.

New Swedish singer songwriter Elina makes a dazzling entrance with her first single, a piano pop ballad named Wild Enough, on which the songbird stuns with her acrobatic voice and dulcet delivery. Resolute statements and raising morale seem to be the welcome fad these days when it comes to female pop music. Elina joins the fray with her heartfelt debut about facing your fears and overcoming self-doubt. Though Wild Enough is Elina’s first official release, she’s already co-written hit songs with other artists, including Sexual by NEIKED. We can’t wait to hear more from Elina. For now, you can also stream Wild Enough on Spotify, here.

Luke Burr holds my liquefied heart in the palm of his hand with his satin smooth vocals and his dreamy simmering R&B soul on Lights On, the 22 year old singer songwriter’s steamy plush new single. The artist, who hails from Essex, has been tipped as some as the most promising new vocal talents around. It’s easy to hear why as he serenades us with his immaculate voice on the lusciously constructed love ballad, of which Burr states: ‘In a world where people are seen through filters and judged by the amount of ‘likes’ they get, Lights On is about giving someone the confidence to be completely themselves. I’m saying “you are most beautiful to me when you’re 100% real”.’ He not only sets the mood with his seductive and provocative single, but he inspires us to be more confident to be ourselves, too. A dashing sonic suitor and a true gentleman, wow! Stream a few of Luke Burr’s prior tracks on Soundcloud, here.

London based singer songwriter Annabel Allum might be a new encounter for us, but you can count on it that we’ll be keeping her in our line of sight, er, line of hearing, for all time to come after she’s shared her boisterous new single RASCAL, out now on Killing Moon Records. The indie rock song is raw and emotive, honest and heartfelt, and it’s also filled with a raspy grit that we can’t help but find magnetic. RASCAL is her second offering of the year, following on acclaimed January release Beat The Birds and her critically acclaimed 2017 EP All That For What. “RASCAL pinpoints a phase in time when it felt like no matter what I was doing, it wouldn’t be right”. Allum says, “Trying to look after myself, the people close to me, the people around me, and never finding a balance in any of it. I would either give too much or nothing at all. I still do that. It’s quite a sad song. Self-scrutiny, really. I guess I’m just still learning that it’s okay to not be able to please everything all the time”. RASCAL is available via all major platforms, here.

Splinters may be understated and austere, but it packs an emotional punch in its poignant lyrics and 18 year old newcomer Ellie Occleston’s beautifully clarion, ardently moving voice. Her piano ballad feels like an intimate confessional, or a comforting soft gust of wind that gently wraps itself around the heart. The London based folk singer songwriter has reeled us in with her anguished lament, its “splinters” resonating with the splinters we carry in our own hearts.  The debut is undeniably bittersweet, yet such a euphoniously stirring stunner. Grab the gorgeous song from iTunes, here.

From a song about the early stages of fevered love (in our last post), we turn to Sara Diamond for a ballad inspired by the more frustrating moments in a relationship, when love becomes an illusion and honesty eludes us. The magnetic chanteuse began her career as a successful child star back home in Canada before she became disenchanted with her trajectory and relaunched herself at the age of 22 with a conviction to never compromise. She’s already dazzled us both as a guest vocalist and a solo artist, and now she’s bewitched us with incendiary, impassioned Three Words, produced by Noah Barer & Austin Tecks. Three Words is a dramatic gripping, grand soaring powerhouse of an anthem. You can follow Sara Diamond’s releases on Spotify, here, where she already has a major following.

I’m still very much obsessed with LOVE SICK’s debut single Bullet, a song I consider one of the year’s best electronic pop debuts. You can re-visit the Scottish newcomers’ original, a twisted love song that’s also fiery resilient, here. LOVE SICK has revealed a stripped down piano version of the song, and it’s a raw emotive, vulnerable and exposed gem that really brings out the agony and poignancy of the song. The acoustic, minimalist rendition of Bullet is a heart pummeling experience. The original version of LOVE SICK’s Bullet can be purchased, here.

It’s only been like a month since British art rock band Blaenavon released their excellent debut album That’s Your Lot, and they already have something new for us to enjoy. Not only that, they’ve partnered up with ever charismatic and charming French singer songwriter and actress Soko for a duet. No One Else In Mind is a tranquil soothing but mournfully pensive gem which was written during a December weekend in Paris. For a brief moment, I feel like I’m waltzing through the streets of Paris myself as this gentle lullaby, a subdued elixir for the soul, lures me through the City Of Light’s quaint alleyways and grand boulevards. No One Else In Mind is a heartbreaking and beautiful unexpected delight. The song can be purchased now from iTunes.

Earlier today, the great Sampha surprised us with a brand new treat, and it certainly had the music heads on my social feeds abuzz with praise. The British electronic and soul artist stops time with stark ballad (No One Knows Me) Like The Piano. This is an undressed ballad on which everything is exposed, be it its mournful tinkling piano or Sampha’s impeccable satin voice. (No One Knows Me) Like The Piano is the definition of perfection, a profound channeling of the heart. The song is out as a single on all major services, here. It will also be found on Sampha’s highly anticipated debut album Process, due out February 3rd and available for pre-ordering, here.

Coming out from the shadows of doing covers, Los Angeles based 19 year old singer/songwriter Caity Krone releases her own original material titled ‘If You Only Knew’. This piano ballad reveals a delicate vulnerability that can be felt through the tips of her finger tips on those piano keys all the way to her vocal chords. This song was written when she was 17. Having insecurities about body image and self worth, she longs for people to know that there can be more to human connection than what’s at the tip of the ice berg.
