In case you’re a bit confused by the title of this next one, let’s be clear. No, I’m not about to present you with a whopping 85 videos to gaze at for the rest of your life. What I am going to do is share with you ONE splendid gem from Danish veterans Mew, who we can always entrust when it comes to sleek shimmering, rich thriving tunes. The bright bursting colors in 85 Videos’ uh, video, are a perfect fit to the song’s prismatic bursts of lavish lifting, melodic sweeping rock. Even without the video, I can envision fractals forming and fireworks exploding in my head to this magnificent song. It’s dazzling to say the least, and it’s more than appropriate that 85 Video will be on a new Mew album named Visuals, set to arrive April 28th via Play It Again Sam. Pre-order digitally from iTunes or physically, here.

Like a moonlight sonata, new MEW arrives to waltz us about in a pillowy cushion of comfort before psychedelic shimmers and progressive flourishes crescendo with a timeless beauty. The Danish quartet will be releasing a new album come springtime, but they cradle us in the meantime with dreamy lush, windy sweeping Carry Me To Safety, a cinematic sprawling experience. The introspective piece channels a hint of Tame Impala and a copious dose of Pink Floyd. New album Visuals will be out April 28th via Play It Again Sam.

This has to be one of my favorite music videos this summer, and it comes from Danish quartet Mew. Adorable animal cut outs race each other in cute little cars while a robot watches over the whole ordeal, all soundtracked by Mew’s sweetly moving The Night Believer. While listening to The Night Believer and watching the video over and over again, I realized I was washed in a wave of nostalgia, and it reminded me heavily of how some The Shins songs make me feel. It’s as if James Mercer joined up with The Raveonettes for the airy, delicate alt rock number, which comes from Mew’s excellent album “+ -”, out now and on iTunes.

This one’s a re-visit, because there’s a new music video out, and because Mew’s Witness is just one sensationally thrilling and gripping synth rock anthem. I love its driving rhythm and rippling waves of lofty spirit. Witness is from the Danish band’s new album “+ -”, out right now. It’s their first full length in six long years.

I know I just shared Mew’s latest album reveal some features back, but this remix of their single, Water Slides, by Manchester’s NO CEREMONY/// (who have been rather silent of late, it seems), is another must share. NOC// takes the Danish quartet’s song and gives it a deeply entrancing and gliding indie electronic re-work, sure to intoxicate with its dreaminess and woozy guitars. It’s a reminder that I miss NOC///’s haunting, beautiful electronic pop. The original will be on Mew’s new album “+-”, out April 27th via Play It Again Sam.

Mew fans are incredibly happy these days, because the Danish band, who’s been silent for six long years, is finally releasing a new album on April 27th. They’ve also revealed a new track this week, a flamboyant and boisterous synth rock tune named Witness. It’s a driving, rippling treat available for grabs when you pre-order their album, “+/-”, on iTunes.

It’s been six years since Mew’s last album, but the Danish band is gearing up to release a new one, on April 27th. It’s starting to feel like they were never absent for long, with the huge tunes they’ve been revealing so far off “+/-”. Water Slides is a rippling, glossy, and synthy art rock song. Mew’s floaty falsettos give the song an extra dose of intoxicating dreaminess. I’m not sure what it is lately with songs that really bring to life their song titles, but this add this one to that bunch.

OFFICIAL VID: Mew – Satellites

February 5, 2015

If you missed Mew’s brand new single several weeks ago, and you dig the Danish alt rock band’s pensive, dreamy sound, I much recommend you watch the video they’ve just released for the song, above. Satellites is a wistful dazzler with plenty of atmospheric electronic rock intricacy. It’s been six years since Mew’s last album, but they’re releasing “+ -” come April 27. Satellites is out as a single March 9 via Play It Again Sam.
