We haven’t heard much from French production duo Basic Tape much of the year, and I’d be lying if I didn’t confess how often I’ve wondered what the pair have been up to. Turns out, they’ve been preparing some “cool” funky vibes for us, with creamy South Londoner crooner HUNTAR in tow! Jam out to infectious piano house banger Cool, an upbeat and invigorating, chic and suave club meets pop track that’s anything but “basic”. Hopefully, Cool is a sign of a new string of fine tunes to come from the Parisian duo. Stream Cool via alternate major outlets, here.

“You’re so cool when it’s so hot” and “you’re so hot when it’s so cold” sings Brooklyn’s Vacances on his irresistibly hooking new single Cool, a fine follow up to earlier this year’s Human. I can’t help but wish the Brooklyn by way of Bay Area artist was singing about me as I bop my way around the room in joy to this vivacious electro and alt pop piece. As on Human, Vacances’ sun kissed dalliance and slaphappy shenanigans evoke The Limousines, combined with the synth laden tendencies and bright catchy vigor of Gentleman Hall (in particular, their song Sail Into The Sun). If anything is ‘cool’ here (and trust me, it’s not me), it’s this Vacances tune. Cool can be purchased now from iTunes.

I seem to be on a roll tonight with the enigmatic, information less discoveries. ladyfriend is quite the mysterious find. From whence this project comes from, I have no idea, though their new single was in fact recorded in Hollywood, CA. Cool starts out like a The Temper Trap song, with smooth soaring falsettos, but there’s a minimalist intimacy to this key propulsive ballad that initially evokes early Perfume Genius, too. The song slowly crescendos, a wistful and elegant indietronica aria that builds up to crisp and vibrant electro pop like vitality. ladyfriend provides us with a fascinating and enthralling affair, and I’m left wondering who they are and when we’ll get to hear more. Cool can be purchased now from iTunes.

Cool is still one of my favorite songs from Swedish visual and conceptual artist MIYNT. Now that both a music video and a debut EP have arrived from MIYNT it’s only proper that we dive back into thischill grooving, mellow funking delight. MIYNT’s smoky seductive voice pulls us into the dips and whirls on this sassy fevered jam. The temperature may have dropped preicipitously in San Francisco within the past two days, but it suddenly feels like a hot, sweaty summer night once again. Ep no. 1 is out now via B3SCI Records. Grab it on vinyl or digitally, here.

Although I’m not entirely sure whether I’m pronouncing MIYNT’s name correctly, I’ve been envisioning it in my mind as “mint”. If so, then it would be perfectly appropriate that the Swedish artist’s latest song is named Cool. The billowy track is the third single revealed from MIYNT’s forthcoming debut EP due out on B3SCI Records on September 16th. The flushed & grimy alt pop song boasts an irresistibly laid back groove. Mellow funk, frisky dissonant strings, and smoky seductive vocals make Cool a feverish summer jam suitable for hot and smoggy Southern California afternoons. MIYNT’s EP No. 1 can be pre-ordered from B3SCI.

Let’s be honest here. It’s late at night, or rather, early in the morning. I’ve had a really long Tuesday, and I’m getting to that exhausted point where my mind has slowed down manifold. Yet, new life is breathed into me, and I find myself dancing away in ecstasy, thanks to brand new LYAR. The German electronic duo deliver summer fresh deep house on invigorating Cool, featuring skating sweet vocals by Matthew J Kurz. I’m suddenly transported to a luxurious yacht, the sun’s setting in the distance, the sky is a vivid tapestry of colors, and a crowd of lovely happy people are dancing up a sweat alongside of me. I’m feeling pretty cool right about now. Head to Facebook for a free download of Cool.

If you follow along with IHM very closely, and this next song named Cool sounds strangely familiar though you’ve never heard of this band named DAWNS, well, ding ding ding, you get a (virtual) cookie for your great memory. I went through the same experience when I first encountered Cool in my inbox. Then I figured it out. I had shared Cool several months ago, when a new indie rock outfit named Hymnal debuted with the song. The three piece have now relaunched as DAWNS, and since Cool is such an earworm of a jam, it’s a must re-visit. Cool is the New York City based trio’s official debut from an upcoming EP. They remind me of bands like Two Door Cinema Club and Foals but with a touch of HONNE and some RKCB with their jaunty tune. Cool’s blend of dance rock pluckiness, alt rock stateliness, and R&B satin smoothness is dreamy vibrant and endearing infectious.

Though they remind me of certain English bands I love, like Two Door Cinema Club and Foals, Hymnal is a new indie rock outfit from New York City. Debut song Cool, released via the band’s first music video, is a full bodied, jaunting introduction to the band to watch. The three piece crush it with their fusion of dance rock vitality and alt rock grandeur on Cool. Don’t miss the dreamy guitar closer, which will take you on a far out trip of head swaying bliss.

I only found out about a Norwegian production act named Sonny Laven a few weeks ago, via a superb remix of SOHN’s Bloodflows, one of my favorite tracks of 2014. The producer is equally entrancing on an official remix of super producer Alesso’s Cool, featuring Roy English. Its a sublimely chill experience in multiple ways. Serene and cooling, the deep and melodic house edit is a dreamy, hazy summer treat. The remix will be out on Def Jam come May 12th.

Powerhouse producer Alesso’s Cool, featuring Roy English, has been getting some mad remix treatments of late. The latest one not to be passed up is a swank remix by Autograf. The Chicago based act been relatively quiet for the past month, so it’s cause for celebration that they’ve revealed a new one. Once again showcasing an impressive versatility after their series of future tropical releases, Autograf has crafted a killer French house version of Cool. Frankly, the remix is even “cooler” than the original, with its smooth Daft Punk funk meets radiant summer house atmosphere. I’m keeping this one on rotation till I get to chill out to it at a pool party surrounded by palm trees and beautiful people. And then some.
