Maryland producer Nobono made ‘This Way Dem’ because he digs groovy basslines. This lofi track got me grooving and swaying in the darkness of my room diggin Nobono. We haven’t heard from him before but we got a feeling we’ll continue to hear from him as he slowly start to make a name for himself.

OFFICIAL VID: Dum Dum Girls – Are You Okay

March 7, 2014

Los Angeles dreamy noise poppers Dum Dum Girls recently dropped their third album Too True on Sub Pop, after bewitching me with their music for for several years now. It seems, with the new album, they’ve attained much more exposure than ever before. Album track Are You Okay is the latest single off Too True, and with the catchy indie pop tune comes a video directed by well known and revered screenwriter and novelist Bret Easton Ellis. It’s an edgy, ominous short film, as would be expected from the man who gave us the intense and twisted film American Psycho.

OFFICIAL VID: Summer Camp – Crazy

March 6, 2014

Crazy is the latest single from British indie pop duo Summer Camp, off their self titled sophmore album out last Fall. As usual, their song is filled with cheerful warmth and jangly charm. The video really zeroes in on craziness with their entertaining takes on such classic psychological thrillers like Misery and Psycho, which are all films I sorta grew up watching and enjoying. I’m not sure what that says about my own psychological state of mind, but is it any wonder I tend to gravitate to dark music and films?

OFFICIAL VID: Dum Dum Girls – Too True To Be Good

February 20, 2014

Dum Dum Girls recently dropped their new album Too True on Sub Pop, and it’s a dreamy, shoegaze filled, lo-fi album. I enjoyed it very much, though 2011’s Only In Dreams is still my favorite album by the Los Angeles quartet. Too True To Be Good is an addicting, luscious track off the album, and the girls have a stylish, fanciful video for it.

Yuck – Another One

Yuck’s back with another new tune off the British band’s upcoming EP Southern Skies, and it’s a shoegazing, gritty, and swoon worthy listen. There’s a delightfully 90’s vibe to the fantastically fuzzy track titled, quite fittingly, Another One. It follows on the heels of the breathtaking, beautiful Athena, which I still love very much.

Continuing with the noise pop and surf rock…

seapony

Who feels like some more lo-fi noise pop? I’m glad Seapony is getting more and more attention… Here’s a live video someone posted of my (so far) favorite song of theirs.

Wait, what’s the SFPOPFEST? I guess I totally missed this somehow… whoops!

I’ve been hearing about the new Wavves track I Want to Meet David Grohl for a few days now. Very upbeat and peppy. I like!
