Interestingly enough, Warpaint’s new song is named… well, New Song. The Los Angeles art rock and dream pop four piece are gearing up for the release of their third full length album, Heads Up, and New Song is our very first taste of that record. This one’s quite the seductive dance rock chugger, a driving jam that feels nearly Foals and Wild Beasts like. I’m sure it’s going to be loads of fun getting down to New Song when Warpaint goes on tour this fall. They’ll be stopping by the Fillmore in San Francisco on October 12th. Heads Up will be out September 23rd on Rough Trade. Pre-order from various outlets, here.

Live footage of brand new TV on the Radio

May 15, 2013

I’m a pretty big fan of Brooklyn’s TV on the Radio, so when I saw they debuted a new track live, I literally GASPED. Here they are performing the new track, reportedly titled Mercy, live at All Tomorrows Parties over the weekend. They’re working on a brand new album! YES! Mercy’s a rambunctious, rocking, experimental track. Ah, yes, I’ve missed you guys. I still remember catching your show at the Independent SF back in May 2011 as if it were recently. What a show it was, right after your brief hiatus after the tragic loss of Gerard Smith (RIP). Electric. Amazing.

New Vampire Weekend

November 1, 2012

Breaking late night silence for a worthy share. I believe they played this at the Pitchfork Music Festival back in July, but this is probably the first decent quality recorded preview of Unbelievers, a brand new Vampire Weekend tune. It’s a nice post-Halloween treat while you’re high on all the sugar. The fellas performed the song on Jimmy Kimmel Live in face paint.

New CC!

October 18, 2012

Aww. Crystal Castles have pushed back their release date for third album (III) to November 13. Sadness. But, it’s just a few days more of a wait. Not too bad, right? In the meantime, they’ve been killing it on tour as always, pleasing their worshipping, adoring fans. At their show in Denver last night, they debutted a new track. It’s actually a mellow tune for Crystal Castles. I don’t hear any screaming Alice on it and it stays rhythmic and “soft” throughout in a very trance like fashion. I’m looking forward to seeing them for my third time next Monday in Oakland, CA. It’s gonna be epic, as always. See you soon, Alice and Ethan!

The Head and the Heart on KEXP with new song

September 22, 2012

Yep, indie folksters The Head and the Heart graced the KEXP studios earlier this month. Today, KEXP released several videos from that wonderful session. One such video is an as yet untitled new song. It’s stark, emotional, raw, honest… all the characteristics we expect from THatH’s lovely, rustic music. Sniffle. I can’t wait for more new material from the Seattle folk pop band.

Here’s the other clips from the session:

Blur is back!

February 21, 2012

And will be one of the closing bands for the London Olympics this year!!! Along with New Order! EPIC. Here’s a new song Damon Albarn performed with Graham Coxon at a show on Sunday night. Sounds so goooood. Welcome back, Blur! It’s nice to listen to Albarn crooning away to more traditional sounding alt/pop stuff again. What a voice.

NEW SONG from THE USED!!!!!

January 5, 2012

It’s been awhile, fellas! And this sounds great! The Used previewed a track titled I Come Alive off of upcoming album Vulnerable on KROQ. Go stream it! It’s just the right balance of alternative, hard rock, and… is that some meagerly used dubstep wobbling I hear in it? I like! Vulnerable drops end of March. I’m looking forward to it!
