Today’s a very special day. Not only is it one of my favorite ghoulish holidays, Halloween, but a surprise new Gorillaz track has surfaced, too! Garage Palace features hip hop sensation Little Simz on guest vocals, and it comes with an awesome animated music video in which she fights zombies alongside the band. The track comes off of the deluxe vinyl release of Humanz, due out as a “Super Deluxe Vinyl Boxset” on November 3rd. Pre-order, here. Garage Palace is available, here.

The Gorillaz were legendary at Outside Lands Music Festival just a little over a week ago. Some say their Outside Lands performance was by far better than their Coachella ones. I wouldn’t be surprised, if so. Damon Albarn and his band lead a flurry of sensational guest artists on a massive headlining adventure that night, and despite how tired I was, and how cold it was (as usual) at Golden Gate Park, I found myself fixated till the very end of that stunning set. Those familiar with the songs off recent Gorillaz album Humanz know how upbeat and energetic many of its genre defying tracks are. Today, we delve into a remix of one such track, Strobelite featuring Peven Everett, by none other than esteemed and adored Canadian production prodigy Kaytranada. The producer is the perfect artist to tap for a Gorillaz remix. He leads the charge with a chic and stylish transformation of Strobelight that takes full advantage of its soulful R&B swagger. The original is available on iTunes, here.

Just when we thought we couldn’t be more excited for Mura Masa’s debut album, the acclaimed producer drops two more gems off the record featuring a fresh wave of star power. Alex Crossan’s self titled debut will be arriving on July 14th, and aside from guests like A$AP Rocky, Charli XCX, Desiigner, and more, it also features Damon Albarn on this dreamy ambling, ethereal flittering treat, Blu. And let’s not forget Second 2 None, which can be streamed below. The nimble sparkling, ginger burbling aria features France’s Christine and the Queens on captivating vocals. It’s no secret Mura Masa’s debut full length is shaping up to be one of the top electronic albums of the year, just as everyone expected.

Oh, hey, more fresh Gorillaz music after we just received that long awaited album HUMANZ? We must have done something really right! According to Damon Albarn, the band had more than forty tracks that were left on the cutting room floor when they put HUMANZ together. Sleeping Powder was one of those tracks, and I’m seriously digging it. It’s a murky grooving jam and a surreal trip that comes with an equally heady animated video which starts off with that famous 80′s “this is your brains on drugs” ad that always made me crave a fried egg. I’m pretty sure that’s not what they meant to do with the ad, but the message came through anyway. Who needs them when we have Sleeping Powder and a cool new visualizer starring 2-D?

It goes without saying that a Bonobo remix of one of the Gorillaz’s brilliant new tunes is in itself a brilliant feat. The esteemed British producer gives Andromeda the signature Bonobo treatment, creating an ambient soundscape full of trickling beats and ethereal chimes. Step into Bonobo’s dusky dreamscape, where Damon Albarn serenades us with a feathery soft voice. Take this one to a smoke filled lounge and dance the night away in bliss. Perhaps I’ll get to hear Bonobo’s Andromeda remix live when he plays the Fox Oakland later this week. Stream or download the track from alternate sources, here.

Several colossal releases surfaced today, including Gorillaz’ long awaited return. The band has been teasing us for some time now regarding new material on the horizon, be it through creative use of their young instagram account or through various other social outlets. As with so many other songs this month, Hallelujah Money, which features English baroque pop and art rock artist Benjamin Clementine on spellbinding vocals, is a politics inspired tune. Even its video reflects America’s current state of affairs. The song itself is fresh and peculiar, as one would expect from Damon Albarn’s esteemed band. The apocalyptic rock opera is a first taste from a full length coming later this year.
