If you’re a very long time devoted fan of I Heart Moosiq, you might recall that over three years ago, I stumbled upon an act out of Seattle named Seapony. This was around the time that Best Coast was just starting to really steal people’s hearts with their early lo-fi beach rock and surf pop charm, and Seapony heavily reminded me of their jangly, sundrenched music, I fell in love immediately, though the band stayed relatively obscure for long afterwards. Today, Seapony returns with heart warming indie pop gem Saw The Light, a first taste off their new album A Vision, out July 31st. The endearing and catchy song is dreamy and laid back, bringing plenty of DIIV and Wild Nothing into that early Best Coast atmosphere.

OFFICIAL VID: Seapony – Be Alone

December 11, 2012

Seattle indie dream pop/beach rock band Seapony have been charming me with their music for awhile now. Check out their brand new video for Be Alone, debuted on pitchforktv. It’s a sweet, lo-fi track with a matching VHS-like retro video. It’s a nostalgic, laid back, whimsical song. It may be taking awhile, as it oft does, but Seapony have a potentially bright future ahead of em. One of these days, I’ll hopefully catch them live in California.

ALBUM STREAM: Seapony – Falling

September 5, 2012

I’ve featured Seapony on here a number of times. The Seattle indie band is a must listen if you like lo-fi beach rock dream pop similar to Best Coast’s debut work. On September 11, Seapony will be releasing their sophomore album Falling, which consits of more of the same type of music. They’re catching the end point of this summer, so hurry up and listen to the sunshine imbued vintage pop while there’s still some warmth in the air! I’m hoping for an Indian summer, as we haven’t received much heat this year just yet. These guys deserve far more attention than they’ve received so far, so here’s to hoping the sophomore album places them on many more radars.

Seapony’s first new singles

July 31, 2012

I’ve been keeping an eye on Seapony for awhile now, after having first found out about them sometime early last year or maybe even late 2010. The Seattle band is releasing a follow up album in September titled Falling. Here’s the first two songs and singles to be previewed off that album. The new tunes sound just slightly less lo-fi beachy, but overall, they have a very beach rock/surf rock lo-fi vintage dream pop sound. They’re very West Coast for sure. Check out What You Wanted, and today’s just announced second single, Prove To Me:

And here’s a few of their older tunes that I really like. Some of it is very Best Coast-ish.

Seapony @ SXSW 2012 (for Rhapsody)

April 5, 2012

If you’ve never heard of Seapony and you like beachy surf rock bands like Best Coast and other similar acts, you should check ‘em out. I’ve enjoyed the bit of material they have floating around the internetz since sometime last year, and they’re still in the shadow of relative obscurity with a lot of potential. Here they are in a video from SXSW 2012 performing a stripped down version of Blue Star.

Continuing with the noise pop and surf rock…

seapony

Who feels like some more lo-fi noise pop? I’m glad Seapony is getting more and more attention… Here’s a live video someone posted of my (so far) favorite song of theirs.

Wait, what’s the SFPOPFEST? I guess I totally missed this somehow… whoops!

Seapony’s new untitled song

August 18, 2011

If you like Best Coast, you’d probably like Seapony.  They’re also very noise/dream pop, beachy, shoegazy, lofi rockers.  This new song seems good, but I like some of their other songs moar. Waiting for them to have an album.

Here’s another song of theirs that seems VERY similar to Best Coast and is so catchy. BEACH TIME!!! I wish!
