Los Angeles artist Mikale D’Andrea keeps it simple and to the point on the Soundcloud profile for his new project SAVI MINDS. “I like writing songs about how I feel, and I like using sounds that portray the way I think,” he says and continues: “My goal with SAVI MINDS is to expose the hidden layer of myself that I never want to tell anyone about.” We’re infinitely fortunate we get to witness and partake in what artists reveal of themselves through their music, and we’re more than lucky we get to sway to the gauzy strums and gently spiraling synths found on SAVI MINDS’ first single, Dreaming. Its mellow psych rock and chill shoegaze wallows in a spectrum of despairing emotions, but we drift on the song’s incandescent shimmers and ultraviolet waves in pure, untroubled bliss. SAVI MINDS’ Dreaming can also be streamed via Spotify, here.

“Dreams come alive,” coos pervasive guest vocalist Nevve as she serenades us from the midst of Taska Black’s cosmic new song. Dreaming really does seem to come alive right before our eyes, er, ears, as its chromatic synths enchant with vibrant arpeggios and its marching beat delivers an epic, cinematic experience. The Belgian producer’s incandescent charging future trap oeuvre is the third single off of Bitbird’s much anticipated Gouldian Finch 02 compilation. Stream/download, here.

It won’t be long before we get to listen to Miniature Tigers’ new album I Dreamt I Was A Cowboy, which drops on October 28th. As we wait, the indie pop band from Phoenix single handedly takes us into a quirky foaming, kaleidoscopic shimmering reverie as they serenade us with album cut Dreaming. This gauzy swirling, summer peppy tune is a nebulous trip deep into that surreal fantasy land hiding deep within our subconscious. Everything we desire might appear here. Despite all this, Dreaming is tinged with despair. As we’re spinning around with Miniature Tigers, we’re also pinching ourselves with the reminder that this is but a dream. Reality awaits us when we wake up from Dreaming. How sweet, yet how sad.

Water Park is an indie electronic two piece who hails from Geelong in Australia who spellbound me with their music when I stumbled upon their Soundcloud earlier today. They describe their music as a mixture of eerie folk, drenched with electronic sweetness. There’s certainly plenty of wistful honey in Dreaming, a glowing gem that calls for some requisite twirling around the room to its chromatic synths and billowy vocals. There’s a familiar sadness to its undertone. I’m reminded of the moment when you wake up from a dream and are forced to recognize what’s true and what’s gone forevermore. Dreaming comes from Water Park’s Perspectives EP. Stream the rest of the EP from the duo’s Soundcloud.

It’s been a couple years now since Los Angeles based indie pop crew Smallpools burst onto the scene with vibrant earworm Dreaming, a song that threw them into spotlight and onto everyone’s playlists that year. Dreaming makes a welcome return draped in summery sunshine and suffused with uplifting melodic dance beats on a vibrantly blithe remix by Taylor Wise. The producer gives us an irresistible remix, one perfect for the spring festivities just around the corner and the long, sanguine days ahead. Download Taylor Wise’s remix for free, here.

Have you ever thought of mixing Jon Hopkins, ZHU, and Chet Faker together? No? Well, Frost gives us a taste of what that might sound like, and more, via his debut song Dreaming. The Australian producer brings in the ethereal enchantment of Jon Hopkins’ amazing compositions and infuses it with a deep, edgy groove and plenty of swooning, soulful vocals. It’s a unique, entrancing blend of heady music that reverberates deeply, likely seeping into your very dreams later tonight. If you dig Frost’s sound, you can thank his obsession with deeper, darker music, resulting in his large record collection from high calibre labels such as Dirtybird, Exploited, Ajunadeep, and Future Classic. Frost states that the track came together when he was in a cycle of staying up all night writing music. When he did, the rhythms and melodies would enter his dreams.

Just last night, I was telling my friend about Icelandic musician Ásgeir and how incredibly brilliant he is. I babbled about how amazing his debut album In The Silence is, and how huge he is his native country since its release. I’m waiting for that success to carry over to this side of the world. This man writes some goosebump inducing, beautiful music that sounds like a blend of Sigur Ros, Bon Iver, and even Radiohead at times. I’ve featured some of his tunes in the past, including Torrent, Going Home, and King and Cross, all stand outs from the debut. Turns out, Going Home is the next single off the album, and Ásgeir has share a B-side that will accompany it on April 7 on One Little Indian. It’s aptly titled Dreaming. Have a listen, and you’ll know why. The lush gem is exquisite yet mournful, gentle yet powerfully emotional. Sigh. And sigh again. I can only wish that Ásgeir will tour here soon. I’m SO there when he does. In the meantime, though it’s been way overdone by everyone, check out his pleasant soothing cover of Wrecking Ball below. And revisit his other tunes on his Soundcloud.

The last time I posted about Magic Man, it was for the Rhode Island synth rock band’s great remix of Atlas Genius’ If So. Well, they’ve released another good one. Stream Magic Man’s remix of Smallpools’ 2013 summer anthem Dreaming. The original track is so dang good and something I won’t get tired of listening to for ages, if ever. Magic Man ups the synthy dreaminess of the tune and creates a wonderful new rendition. Psst, by the way, Dreaming is effing incredible to dance to live with a room full of people and the band belting it out right in front of you.

OFFICIAL VID: Smallpools – Dreaming

Just over two months ago, I stumbled upon a very catchy little tune named Dreaming by a completely anonymous and unknown Los Angeles band named Smallpools. Fast forward 2 months later, they just released a debut EP, a debut music video that’s quite entertaining, and their music is being heard all over the place, including during the MLB All-Stars highlights reel on television last night. And ya know, the lead singer ain’t such a bad looking fella with his gruff but less smug Adam Levine look. They’re on the fast track to success. If you didn’t stream their debut EP yesterday, go listen here. Enjoy the cool new video below. These guys are the Cinderella story of the year.
