It almost seems strange that dark, sludgy rock could bring us “peace of mind”, but that’s exactly what’s happened to us after listening to The Pale White’s latest single. The world and all its troubles fade into the background as we indulge in their gloriously thrashing alt rock on Peace Of Mind. Our minds may be clearly focused, but our heads are banging and our hearts are pumping in rhythm to its incendiary drums. Shades of QotSA, Nirvana, and even Arctic Monkeys (before their latest album) can be found in the vehement anthem, which comes accompanied by a visceral music video. Peace Of Mind is The Pale White’s second single this year, which leaves us wondering…. Is the UK trio planning to drop an album later this year? For now, let’s continue rocking out to The Pale White by visiting their last single, Loveless, below.

“Indestructible” seems the proper word to describe our affection for Welshly Arms, the Ohio rock band who first captured our hearts last year with Legendary, a fine introduction to the already blooming band’s raw and impassioned garage rock. And now they’re back with a song named Indestructible, a torrid broiling, bluesy burning alt rock anthem whose soulful swagger and funky strut are like Portugal. the Man gone Jack White and The Black Keys. The band will be playing a number of massive summer festivals this year, as well as going on tour with Thirty Seconds To Mars. They’ll also be releasing their debut full length on Republic Records later this month. The year’s only going to get better for Welshly Arms fans like us. Pre-order their debut album No Place Is Home on iTunes, here.

In case you haven’t heard, Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong has a new band named The Longshot, and they already have a debut EP out, too. And those lucky enough to snag tickets get to see the punk rockers at a few small venues, too (they played one at home in the Bay over the weekend). Stream The Longshot’s crunchy chugging Taxi Driver above. Stylistically, it’s not much different from Armstrong’s work with legendary Green Day. And it’s incredibly infectious. You can listen to all five tracks from The Longshot’s debut EP on YouTube, here. Alternate streaming options can be found, here.

Makin’ Waves seems rather an appropriate song title for the first track we’re featuring from FEVA. The English lads received widespread praise following the release of their blistering first single, Blind, late last year. It’s certain that they’re making plenty of waves with their fiercely infectious riffs and raw garage rock now that they’ve returned with their second release, a tenacious stomping, rowdy charged anthem that will no doubt earn them even more accolades.

The band states: “Makin’ Waves is somewhat of an ode to the free spirit, making your own decisions and making your own waves in life regardless of what is considered the norm. It’s an uplifting feel good track and what better time to release with summer not (too) far away”. The new single is out now on all major platforms. Stream debut single Blind below to continue rocking out to FEVA.

Ohio alt rock veterans MONA have been creating quite astir with their recent return. Their last single, Kiss Like A Woman, was accompanied by a music video that’s racked up well over 600K views on YouTube in the past month. The band now follows up that ravishing garage rock brawler with a fresh new taste from their third album Soldier On, arriving this June on Bright Antenna Records. Not Alone is another sweeping rock song. The song focuses on something I tend to understand too often, that feeling of isolation and loneliness despite being surrounded by people. It’s a boisterous rollicking anthem that arrives just as MONA is kicking off a three stop mini-tour that begins in Los Angeles tomorrow night. Details can be found on their website, here.

Though Cannibal Lover has been floating about for a number of months now, the track has been announced as Redlands’ latest single. The Denver based alt rockers slay on the riff bristling, percussive boiling heater. Cannibal Lover is a sooty and seductive Fall Out Boy meets ARMORS-like tempestuous rock and roller with plenty of extra oomph. You can grab the wildly hooking, rip roaring track from iTunes, here. Flowers are fragrantly romantic, but with the addition of an extra “s”, they become even more divine and a treat for the ears, as exemplified by HALFNOISE, or Nashville artist (and Paramore drummer) Zac Farro, on his new single. Flowerss is the title track from HALFNOISE’s next EP, due out May 4th via Nashville-collective Congrats!. Farro and his band drench us with glossy, spacey 70s psychedelia on the alt rock jam.

If you’re not yet familiar with Colorado’s Slow Caves, the band sums up who they are nicely by describing their “synth-punk” as inspired by late nights in Hollywood, high speed car chases, red eye flights and vintage skateboard videos.” Their new single Poser is a surfy churning jam that evokes bands like Broncho and The Orwells, and it arrives just ahead of their new North American tour, which you can find out about, here. The scuzzy rocking song makes it more than apparent that if there’s any posers in our vicinity, it’s sure as hell not Slow Caves and their deliciously disheveled rock. Snag the track from iTunes, here.

A fortuitous browse through YouTube earlier today brought me to Off Road Minivan and their song and video, Spiral Gaze. I found myself instantly falling for their dreamy guitars, crashing hi-hats, and rough, grainy alt rock. The quintet calls Red Hook, NY their home, and they’ve just signed to Tooth & Nail Records. Come February 16th, they’ll be releasing their debut EP. Spiral Gaze is its title track, an emotive rock piece that evokes turn of the century melodic thrashers brimming with bitter angst and rugged energy. It’s a sprawling opus, an organic and tactile sonic escapade that’s convinced us we need to check out Off Road Minivan’s debut EP later this month. Pre-order Spiral Gaze, here.

High Tropics’ new crunchy chugging tune You Never Made It Easy is described as being inspired by The Strokes, and it’s easy to say why. It certainly has that rugged drawl and infectious cadence that we love about the legendary garage rock band, but it’s also distinctly High Tropics. Despite its name, High Tropics has never made it easier to fall even deeper in love with their vibrant jangling, fuzzy purring sound. As some have already noted, the Australian band’s rock is also reminiscent of FIDLAR and Wavves, and it’s quite the foot tapping, head bopping extravaganza. You Never Made It Easy is only High Tropics’ third single, and we’re hoping 2018 brings a whole lot of fine new tunes from this band including a first EP. The single is out now on Roll Call Records.
