The word “fence” is so ambiguous. It could mean a barrier or the act of selling an item. Even as a barrier, it can be cryptic whether its meant to protect you, or keep you from greener pastures. It is clear, however, that there’s no protection possible and no fence strong enough that can keep your heart from melting to Josh Jacobson’s creamy crooning and emotive production on the Moving Castle co-founder’s gorgeous new future soul single, Fence. For all its aching desire and lovesick sentiment, Fence is also an opulent and vibrant dalliance. Fence is a ravishing preview off of Josh Jacobson’s debut EP, First Light, due out this September on his new label, Joshua Tree Records. Fence can also be streamed off Spotify, here.

Tethered I am and always am to Josh Jacobson and the Moving Castle co-founder’s creamy future soul. The New Yorker has unleashed the first single from his debut EP, First Light, and Tethered is an opulently textured suitor with dreamy chimes, spirited horns, and vibrant synths. Tethered is a song both lovesick melting and jubilantly festive. We’ll be looping this one on endless repeat as we await furhter news regarding Josh Jacobson’s debut EP. Tethered is available from major outlets, here.

Polaroids have all but become obsolete in this age of digital cameras and smart phones, except on the rare occasion for special events like weddings or for special art projects. Moving Castle co-founder and creamy voiced New York artist Josh Jacobson brings back this relic of the past with his new future soul aria, Polaroids, a velveteen rich, brass and string opulent swooner submerged in HONNE creaminess and Nick Murphy (fka Chet Faker) like luxuriant crooning. Polaroids alights as the first aching desirous taste from Josh Jacobson’s First Light EP, due out later this year.

For the most part, remixes tend to arrive fairly soon after a single’s release. Yet on the rare occasion, an edit comes to fruition long after a track has nuzzled its way into our hearts. When such a fabulous remix arises, it’s a transcendental opportunity to pay homage to a song that hasn’t graced IHM in quite some time. Tonight, we get to re-visit Moving Castle founders Hunt For The Breeze and Josh Jacobson’s exhilarating trap and soulful house collaboration, Awake, thanks to a magical interpretation of the track offered up by Columbus’ LOKI. The unexpected future bass delight resonates bright wonder and indomitable resolve in its exotic plumage. It marches high and exuberant, proud and dignified, a fine display of divine character for a producer who may very well be a Norse god. LOKI’s remix is a free download, here.

Little Dragon’s ‘Twice’ is a gem and Moving Castle’s Josh Jacobson polished it with his future soul rendition. This track is one of his “favorite songs ever” and he does not fail doing it justice. It’s as moving as it is beautiful.

Skela first captivated me with her immaculate voice on Josh Jacobson’s Not Alone several months back. She immediately had me wondering who this spectacular songbird might be. The Brooklyn based singer songwriter takes my breath away once again on her own solo track, Rivers, an elegantly sparkling but agonized ode to heartbreak. Its ambient soundscape meld seamlessly with its tender keys and Skela’s extraordinary vocals. Skela teams up with producer and co-writer Josh Jacobson once again on the song, a graceful and fluid ballad I gladly sink deeply into, over and over again.

I first encountered Josh Jacobson when he teamed up with fellow Moving Castle producer Hunt For The Breeze on Awake earlier this year. Now, the Brooklyn producer melts us with a beautiful solo track named Not Alone that features slick vocals by NYC singer songwriter Skela. Together, they deliver a nostalgia dripping, gliding future soul and downtempo house ballad sure to lift you to colossal levels of euphoria. Not Alone is available on iTunes.

This one’s been out for a little while, but I came upon it again as a separate Soundcloud one off, instead of as part of Moving Castle compilation Vol. IV, and it immediately struck me that I’ve never shared this wicked intoxicating tune with you. Moving Castle co-founders Hunt For The Breeze and Josh Jacobson team up on Awake, a spectacularly exhilarating trap and soulful house combination. Awake is a gorgeous, invigorating track, a refreshing song that lives up to its name fully, jolting me with clarity and energy. Download Moving Castle Vol. IV, here.
