We’ve been impressed with young dePresno, his mature songcrafting, and his absorbing delivery since he made his debut a couple years ago with Forever. While some of his earlier offerings were very gritty, visceral, and soulful, his later gems have had an extra layering of pop sensibility. New song Breathing is a fine exhibit of that alluring balance. The Norwegian singer songwriter even takes inspiration from Afroman on the new single. His usual deep throaty vocals venture into lofty falsettos territory on the R&B inflected, breezy sleek cut. It’s one of dePresno’s most light hearted tunes and a summer ready jam. Breathing is out now on Columbia. dePresno has been taking us on a very exciting trajectory with his music, and we can’t wait to hear what comes next.

dePresno is at it again, charming us with his deep booming voice on new song See You Soon, except this time around, the budding young Norwegian talent delivers larger than life choruses, shelving some of the subtle minimalism of yore that we’ve heard from him prior. Slinky percussion and guttural bass create an aura of mystique and suspense right before dePresno breaks out into soaring synthpop grandeur brimming with insistent urgency. See You Soon, out now on Columbia, comes ahead of a debut album whose details have not yet been revealed.

Less than a week ago, young Norwegian talent dePresno released his debut EP, Forever, which comes with previously shared single Stranger In Disguise, which was the singer songwriter’s second song. As it’s been a year since we last listened to the track together, and dePresno’s EP is a well worthy visit, let’s dive back into the mesmeric gem. dePresno’s deep magnetic voice takes us into an intimate world in which minimalist production hovers and wobbles gently alongside expressive wistful keys and soft trickling beats. Stranger In Disguise fully engulfs me, a stunningly beautiful whirlpool of emotion draped in velveteen optimism. For more of dePresno’s soulful pop and spacious echoing arrangement, stream or purchase his Forever EP in full via major outlets, here.

Every time I hear dePresno’s deep, rolling voice I find myself utterly mesmerized. I also tend to forget that the Norwegian artist is only 19. Yesterday, dePresno unleashed his new single, Hide and Seek, from his upcoming EP Forever. Despite its rather meditative cadence, Hide and Seek’s kindles strong and intense. The soulful alt pop ballad and its crisp, unblemished layers of electronic production arrive as dePresno prepares to embark on a European tour that sees him playing several festivals and supporting fellow Scandinavian talent, Aurora.

Deep, captivating vocals and crisp, soulful, yet smooth production make dePresno’s second single Stranger In Disguise as full bodied enchanting and emotionally intoxicating as his debut single earlier this year. The 19 year old singer songwriter from Norway is working on a debut EP to be released early next year. This new teaser, in his own words, is “a journey into the confusion and emptiness you can be engulfed in after a break-up. The feeling of never wanting to get into a relationship again, after parting with your beloved one. The feeling of never wanting to trust anyone again after being betrayed. The moment where you’re left in a destructive whirlpool of emotions, or maybe worse, the moment where you end up feeling nothing at all, and think that you never will love again. But the song is all about optimism, and how you out of nowhere can meet someone that changes everything. In your most vulnerable moment, you might meet someone else to guide you back home, who thaws your stone cold heart, and plants a seed for a smile to grow on your face. You just hope that she is not another mistake – that she’s not another stranger in disguise”. This turmoil is apparent on Stranger In Disguise, contrasting with its velveteen optimism. Stranger In Disguise will be out October 30th on Coco & Co.

17 year old dePresno had me listening attentively and in full on captivation to Forever, an exquisite debut single from the new act. The singer songwriter was born and raised in Bergen, Norway, a city that has given us some incredible musicians over the years. Forever, out May 22nd on Coco & Co., is a unique ballad dripping in wistfulness and charged with emotion. There’s a grittiness to his soulful voice, which is paired with a stripped down, folk flavored soundscape to begin with. But the song quickly builds layer upon layer of dramatic electronic elements, until it bursts with passionate, spellbinding power. It’s a heart rending, compelling experience.
