There seems to be a wild abundance of Azealia covers lately (on top of endless melodrama in the gossip columns, but let’s not go there). One of the latest must share remixes is a flip of Azealia Banks’ Chasing Time by a Polish producer named Pham. I’d venture to guess that Pham might be a Kaytranada fan, considering the thrilling, textured deep and future house approach. Lusciously good and utterly entrancing, the track had me delving deeper into Pham’s repertoire on SoundCloud. For an exhilarating taste of Pham’s originals, stream Controls below, in all its future bass and trap glory.

What is it about Australia and quality future trap/bass? Ever since Flume, we’ve had a steady stream of amazing music and talent. The latest must listen producer to hit my radar from Australia is Høwl. The producer’s latest track is an engrossing remix of Azealia Banks’ Chasing TimeHøwl transforms it into a crisp trap thriller with intricate, compelling drum work and hypnotic synths. For a great original by Høwl, check out his ethereal, magnificent song Sports Challenge below. Høwl’s profile on Soundcloud states “not ta-ku”, but I must confess, Ta-Ku did come to mind when I was listening to this jam.

If you’re like me, then you were probably wondering for a little while what New York hip hop artist Azealia Banks has been up to lately. I was a huge fan of early favorites, like the always fun and infectious 212. But despite all the hype, it’s been a rocky road for the talented, sassy, controversy laden artist, and she still has not released her long awaited debut album. Finally, after a prolonged silence, Azealia is back. BOY, is she back. Chasing Time surprised the bejeezus out of me. It’s universes away from 212 and her prior mixtape with its house influenced style, and it’s SO good! Azealia has gotten on the 90’s house train, and her flow, voice, and chic style fit it all perfectly. This might be her best music in ages long. Suddenly, I find myself looking forward to her debut album yet again. I hope it won’t be too much longer before we get to hear Broke WIth Expensive Taste.

Keeping it in the hip hop arena with this surprise release from Azealia Banks. Her remix of Britney Spear’s Work Bitch is far from just a remix. She raps meticulously for the first two thirds of the track over Will.I.Am’s production before Britney’s vocals finally kick in. I might like it more than the original. In the meantime, Azealia is still slowly working on her next album Fantasea II.

New York controversial artist Azealia Banks is readying a new mixtape titled Fantasea II: The Second Wave, and here’s a tasty treat off the release which won’t be out until July 11 next year. Count Contessa is a smooth, electric track about a woman with a man’s physical strength. Interesting stuff and a delightful, sunburst of a listen. The track samples British producer Lone’s Aquamarine.

What the HEY? In surprising news of the day for me, prolific and long standing trance producer Paul Oakenfold teamed up with Richard Benyon and controversial New York rapper Azealia Banks on an epic trance-rap-pop hybrid tune named Venus. Stream the “Ibiza Edition” above. It’s a slightly confusing mix of genres, but after being perplexed briefly, I found myself enjoying the track. Oakenfold lays down his signature trance euphoria and Banks sounds the least dirty and grimy yet. It sounds like an easy EDM heads’ hit sure to satisfy some kiddos at today’s mass raves. Bust out the glow sticks and figure eights!
