New The Kickdrums EP Still Logic

July 31, 2013

The Kickdrums is Alex Fitts, a Brooklyn based musician who has also produced some work for other artists. He released a new three track EP today titled Still Logic. Check out the synthy, moody opening track Atonement below. You can grab the EP on iTunes or on Amazon. I’ll also share the other two catchy album tracks, Fake Guns and the lead single Thinking Out Loud below, but Atonement is most definitely my favorite of the three.

ALBUM STREAM: Sombear – Love You in the Dark

July 23, 2013

In all likelihood, by tomorrow or the next day, I shall have in my hands my pre-order of Sombear’s debut album Love You in the Dark. And I can’t wait to get my paws on it. The Minneapolis project is lead by Brad Hale of the indie rock band Now, Now. And what a project he has created! At times sweepingly bright and dreamy with M83 vibes, at other times moody and gloomy, Sombear’s versatile music impressed me right from the get go. Album lead track Incredibly Still, which is on my list of fave tunes of the moment, is amazingly airy and soaring, while title track Love You In The Dark is far more morose and heartbroken. Stream the fantastic full album below pre-release!

ALBUM STREAM: Empire of the Sun – Ice On The Dune

June 10, 2013

image

Courtesy of Rolling Stone, we get to stream Empire of the Sun’s highly anticipated sophomore album Ice On The Dune a week early! It’s been a long wait since their explosive 2008 debut. Head on over to enjoy the theatrical synthpop stream. What do you think? Is this another buzzing album that sits at the top of this year’s releases so far? I can’t wait for more cool videos from Nick and Luke once more singles start dropping off the release!

http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/empire-of-the-sun-aim-for-american-pop-radio-on-expansive-new-album-20130610

UPDATE: Did a quick run through first listen, which I never use as the base to judge an album (must listen through at least 2-3x for the right thoughts to form). However, I do know I enjoyed the album very much and it has a myriad of sounds across the tracks. There are some very psychy moments, and the very last song, Keep A Watch, is SO Bowie!
