Time to raise the energy level after that super morose Skylar Grey tune. Let’s do so with this awesome, sick remix of Nina Simone’s Feeling Good by Santa Cruz dubstep producer Bassnectar! Yep, you can always count on Lorin to step outside of the box when it comes to blending genres and remixing tunes you wouldn’t usually associate with EDM. And yes, kiddos, the song Feeling Good is originally by the legendary Nina Simone, not Michael Buble, as much as his version is a butt kicking good cover. Bassnectar’s version is a synth heavy fresh approach, but he doesn’t go overboard with a ton of wobbles or hard drops, sorry to disappoint those who just want endless drops and drops upon drops. It retains the jazzy flavor of the classic yet adds a whole new aura of grandiose magnificence. The remix is off a compilation album titled Verve Remix: The First Ladies, which includes other classic remixes by the likes of RAC, Kaskade, Zeds Dead, Pretty Lights, Flume, C2C, Toro Y Moi, TOKiMONSTA, Maya Jane Coles, and even more amazing producers. It’s out on July 16. As great as this remix is, my all time favorite Bassnectar remix is still Bassnectar’s remix of Gogol Bordello’s Immigraniada, however. That one is just KILLER. I’m going to listen to it now.
