Liv, the Swedish supergroup that involves prolific artists like Lykke Li, Andrew Wyatt, Pontus Winberg, Björn Yttling, and Jeff Bhasker, seem to enjoy coming together for a new release once in a blue moon. It’s always a grand event when Lykke Li and members of Miike Snow as well as Peter Bjorn and John drop a new collaboration, so I was over the moon when ‘Hurts to liv’ surfaced. Aside from its clever wordplay, ‘Hurts to liv’ is quite the twangy melancholic charmer. She states of the song: “There’s nothing more life awakening than the beginning and end of life, love and art. This song is a tribute to my mother and Andrew’s father, who passed away”. “Hurts to liv’ is out on INGRID. Stream/purchase, here.

Dutch favorites The Him are back with a massive new remix. It’s easily a favorite new edit to come out of this weekend. The duo has given Miike Snow’s hit single The Heart Of Me a vivacious bouncing makeover. This resilient springing, crisp driving deep and future house remix is a high octane adrenaline rush. There’s no better way to end the weekend than a table top dance party to the kinetic banger. The remix can also be streamed via Soundcloud below.

Last month, a new supergroup surfaced comprising of Lykke Li, Andrew Wyatt, Pontus Winnberg, Björn Yttling, and Jeff Bhasker, or in other words., a conglomerate of talent involving the likes of Lykke Li, Miike Snow, and Peter Bjorn and John. Liv gave us a rather enchanting debut named Wings Of Love, which they’ve now followed up with Dream Awake. As its name suggests, this gauzy opaque mixture of folk, psychedelia, and lo-fi dream pop takes us to a place in between worlds. We hang in mid air, lost in the beauty of this desolate yet tender song. Dream Awake is out now on Swedish label INGRID.

I must have missed the memo when news of a new superband named Liv recently surfaced, but I’m one of the cool kids now that I’ve encountered the fresh video that just surfaced for their first single Wings Of Love. This collective is comprised of Lykke Li, Andrew Wyatt, Pontus Winnberg, Björn Yttling and Jeff Bhasker. That’s right, this is a Lykke Li, Miike Snow, and Peter Bjorn and John conglomerate! Wings Of Love’s video is also Lykke Li’s directorial debut, a rather free spirited and Bohemian clip to go with the song’s folksy inebriating psych rock. Lykke Li describes the video as an ode to Swedish summer. I find it all very “Summer Of Love”, too. I’m transported back to the 60′s by these illustrious musicians, and it’s a blissful voyage through time.

There have been an inordinate amount of remixes when it comes to Miike Snow’s Genghis Khan, possibly the most infectious song of 2016, yet none of them have been as swanky chic and dapper sharp as this grooving edit by a Frenchman who goes by the production moniker Factuel. He gives Genghis Khan a French makeover with his deep disco house remix. Its smooth velour and feisty charm are irresistible. A blissful boogie around the room is unavoidable.

I first heard this remix last week, when it was under embargo, and I’ve been checking on it daily to see when I could finally share the tune with you. I suppose you could say I’m one happy camper and you’re one lucky bloke, because today’s the day we get to partake in Miike Snow’s remix of Dua Lipa’s Hotter Than Hell together. London’s Dua Lipa is undoubtedly one of the most hotly tipped pop artists of the moment, but to see a Miike Snow remix of her music still comes as an unexpected surprise, one that had my heart aflutter with joy. Even more unexpected is the type of edit that Miike Snow offers us. This certainly isn’t the Miike Snow we normally listen to. Our Swedish boys go future tropical on their refix of Hotter Than Hell. It’s a jouncy house remix that highlights Dua Lipa’s sensational voice. It’s also the perfect partner in crime for summer, a balmy banger for the warm months we’re entrenched in right now.

Miike Snow’s Genghis Khan seems to be one of the most played songs of the moment. I hear it all the time, and I’m certainly not one to complain. Genghis Khan is such a catchy jam from the Swedish alt electronic act’s highly anticipated album, iii, out March 4th. But if you’re hungry for a new infectious synthpop treat from the band, it’s your lucky day. Miike Snow has revealed The Heart Of Me, a bright and bubbly groover and yet another irresistible taste off iii. iii’s going to be sublime.

As expected, I’ve been hearing Miike Snow’s Genghis Khan a lot, and I’m quite content about it, since I’m much fond of the buoyantly infectious synthpop song. Last week, we heard a dazzling remix of Genghis Khan by Empress Of, but this week, Genghis Khan goes more chill on a future bass remix by Louis The Child. I’m loving its deliberate and spacious pace, its shimmies, skips, and wobbles. This is a much more introspective Genghis Khan, mesmerizing and thoughtful.
