Annie Clark (St Vincent) covering Brian Eno

June 5, 2012

I do not expect less than amazeballs when Annie Clark is involved. I’m not saying I love EVERYTHING she does, I’m saying I’m amazed by everything she does. And I love almost everything she does, to boot. Here’s the amazing, talented lead of St Vincent covering Brian Eno’s Some of Them Are Old. The cover was recorded in Elvis Costello keyboardist Steve Nieve’s home in Paris. Set everything down, close your eyes (unless you’re watching the desert footage interspersed video), and just listen to Ms. Clark take it away. What an angelic voice when she’s not storming through one of her crazier songs (and even then she sounds angelic but intense). Here’s proof that she doesn’t need crazy electric guitar solos and shredding to keep us mesmerized. But I do miss the heavy guitar showcase by arguably one of the best female guitarists of the current scene. Mad props to this lovely lady, mad props.
