Illustrious musician Annie Clark, better known to the world as brilliant artist St. Vincent, put out one of my favorite art pop albums of 2017 in critically acclaimed Masseduction. While the record seemed to diverge from some of her gnarled guitar tracks of yore, it was a genius concept with incredible songs. Album single New York is undoubtedly a crowd favorite, a sing-along ready, melancholia steeped beauty. We love it too. And we can’t help but love this remix of the song by Los Angeles duo DJDS. I can’t imagine it’s an easy song to remix, but they’ve expertly crafted a drum & bass plus breakbeats inflected version of New York that gives the original some extra urgency and a darker aura. The official DJDJS version of New York is available at iTunes, here.

We’re three days away from the release of St. Vincent’s sure to be brilliant new album MASSEDUCTION, and I can’t be more excited. Annie Clark has already given us two incredible tunes off the full length, and I’d be lying if I said I haven’t been listening to Los Ageless and New York on repeat. Today, St. Vincent shares with us a new track named Pills, giving us yet another dose of her genius art rock with the whimsically biting, witty gushing tune. We get an ample amount of her rough angular guitars on the treat too, despite its baroque pop veneer and brisk saunter. Along with Pills came news of an expansive tour that will take St. Vincent to the cavernous Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco in early January. While I mourn the fact that we won’t get to see St. Vincent in smaller venues anymore, I do believe her talent will shine spectacularly on that massive stage. She’s larger than life and one of the most amazing artists of this generation, after all, and her creative vision encompasses far more than just the auditory. Pre-order MASSEDUCTION if you haven’t gotten around to it yet, here. Learn more about her forthcoming tour on her website, here.

It’s happened, guys. The incredibly talented, amazingly brilliant St. Vincent, aka Annie Clark, has announced her next album. MASSEDUCTION arrives on October 13th. Guess who’s already pre-ordered a physical copy from her official store? I’m still stuck on MASSEDUCTION’s first beautifully poignant, lushly stirring single, New York (and its magnificent pop-art video created by Alex Da Corte). But I quickly find myself listening to new single Los Ageless on repeat this morning, too. Its punchy pop and snarling electro-rock are permeated with fiery grit and a snappy bite. I have a feeling MASSEDUCTION is going to be another ingenious full length from Annie. But of course, we’d expect nothing less from her. You can also pre-order MASSEDUCTION, both digitally from iTunes, here, or direct, here.

Guys, guys! That rumored new St. Vincent just dropped! The visionary art rock/chamber pop musician and guitar virtuoso is back! And

Annie Clark’s gone beautifully and lavishly orchestral on New York. Yes, this is more classic strings and elegant piano chords Annie, and I do still miss the angular guitar Annie, but boy is this a majestic moving tune. You can find New York on iTunes, here. Also, St. Vincent is going on tour! Find out more, here. Tickets go on sale tomorrow. The tour is named Fear The Future. Could this be the title of her next album? Hopefully, a San Francisco date will be added to the tour in the coming weeks.

St. Vincent dropped a video for her woozy, witty tune Birth In Reverse today, and I can’t resist throwing it in for a share. After all, the song and her self titled album are some of the most brilliant and avant-garde music we’ve heard this year. St. Vincent tops so many critics’ album of the year charts and it’s nominated for a Grammy, too. It’s no wonder, considering her complex, unique song writing and delivery. Annie Clark is still, in my opinion, one of the best female guitarists of the moment. With her crazy Einstein hair this year, she’s taken on a wild futuristic/robotic theme with her baroque music, her videos, and even her live performances. Anytime I watch footage of Annie, I’m completely mesmerized. Stream the video for Birth In Reverse below.

St. Vincent – Prince Johnny

February 6, 2014

St. Vincent has shared another track off her coming self titled album out February 25. Unlike Digital Witness and Birth In Reverse, also off the coming release, Prince Johnny is a surprisingly downtempo and sexy number, but don’t worry, it’s still fleshed out by Annie Clark’s brilliant avant-garde, ominous style. In fact, it reminds me most of music off of 2011’s Strange Mercy compared to the other recent tracks.

Today, we get to gaze wondrously on Annie Clark’s new crazy Einstein hair again thanks to her new video for funky, experimental, avant-garde track Digital Witness. I’ve always been awes of St. Vincent… for her music, for her ingenue guitar prowess, and now, for her hair. It looks like she’s going to take right off the ground with that hair. In anycase, Digital Witness is another complex, intriguing listen off her upcoming self titled album out on February 25. It’s quite the upbeat and popping tune, not as dark and twisted as some of her other music and certainly a great one to dance around to. I’m looking forward to seeing her live again. She’s one of the more passionate and intense performers I’ve ever caught live, and it seems such a disparity to her gorgeous, dainty appearance. She’s fierce! Oh, there’s one more thing I’m in awe of when it comes to Annie Clark: her soccer skills. Watch a cool clip of her teaching the rainbow kick here
