Live/studio clips aggregate

June 7, 2012

Below is an aggregate of some great new live or studio video recordings I found during my requisite youtube trolling. Strap yourselves in and let’s go on a musical ride… 😉

First, a lovely unplugged Metric performance of their new song Breathing Under Water for the Mahogany Session… we rarely see this gentle acoustic side of Emily Haines.

Ellie Goulding performing her gorgeous song The Writer for… Whoa what’s up with the new hairdo? Wild stuff! I love how you can truly appreciate her voice on her stripped down performances, though I’ve watched even better performances by her than the below.

And yes, this is Kelly Clarkson covering Princess of China. It’s quite decent. Personally, I like her voice more than I like Rihanna’s. Sue me. But the cover is sorely missing Chris Martin’s voice, and Rihanna’s voice does fit a duet with Martin more so than Clarkson’s.

Mystery Jets performed Flakes for Bands in Transit while in Brighton (UK), another one of my favorite sessions/channels on youtube. And it’s INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL. So much so that I was confused if I needed to separate this out as its own solo blog entry… Check it out! They also performed Hale Bop and Greatest Hits during that same session. Click here to watch those too.

Last, we have Niki & The Dove, also on Bands In Transit while in Brighton. Their performance here of The Drummer is crazy intense and extra future pop-ish compared to the usual arrangement. I can’t wait to see them live in the fall! I’ve been waiting so long. They also performed Last Night in this session. Check it out here.

RAC’s extended mix of Phoenix’s Armistice

April 3, 2012

RAC announced today that youtube was “kind enough to give” them an “RAC” account. What? Are you kidding me? RAC DESERVES a super mega uber rule-the-world youtube account. Come on, now! To celebrate the occasion, they threw up an extended cut of their remix of Phoenix’s Armistice. Win! Hey, whatever happened to the rumors that Phoenix was making a new album anyway? Why hasn’t there been any news for awhile?

Rock in Rio streaming live

September 25, 2011

rock in rio

Youtube has a streaming channel for Rock in Rio, which claims to be the world’s biggest festival. I don’t know about that… maybe one of the longest ones, but not the biggest… Pretty cool headliners though. Anyway, here’s the channel and as of now, Red Hot Chili Peppers is slated to stream next.

RHCP on NOW (9:25pm pacific time)

Austin City Limits streaming

September 16, 2011

The lineup is mad crazy for this year’s Austin City Limits, and they are streaming some of the sets live right now on youtube. Check it out here:

There’s two channels over the next 3 days. I’ll be checking out some of it, but more likely just checking out videos afterwards that I most likely will share and review here if good, as usual. Hey, look, Big Boi is on right now and he didn’t flake (reference to Outside Lands 2011 hehe).
