As long time fans of English folk rock and indie pop outfit Slow Club, we were elated to find out that Rebecca Taylor had launched a new solo project named Self Esteem. Hopefully this doesn’t mean the end for Slow Club, but we’ve always been open to change and the fresh creativity it brings. Rebecca reportedly drew influence from everything and anything to create Self Esteem, be it pop culture, the dark and light within her own life, her experience on the road as part of a band she’s loved for ten years, or the freedom that came away from stepping away from said band. Your Wife is Self Esteem’s debut single, a scintillating, dramatically entrancing burst of left field art pop with unique elements and mesmerizing tribal drums. On production duty is Django Django’s Dave Maclean. Self Esteem explores vulnerability and strength on this first riveting single, which is also the title track from a forthcoming debut EP out September 29th on Kick N Clap. Pre-order, here.
