James Blake X RZA (of Wu-Tang Clan)!

April 9, 2013

I saw this late last week, but haven’t had a chance to share until now. And it’s pretty cool. James Blake teamed up with RZA of Wu-Tang Clan on this Overgrown track Take A Fall For Me. I can’t wait to receive my copy of James Blake’s sophomore album Overgrown, which seems to be grabbing some MAD critical acclaim, with some saying it’s better than his eponymous debut! I’ll wait, listen, and see, as I was a pretty big fan of that first record. So far, it’s sounding pretty damn good.

Here’s one more track that surfaced late last week. It’s a trippy, woozy bonus track off Overgrown titled Every Day I Ran. I can’t wait to catch the guy live again next week at a sold out show, though I caught him on the tour last time around. It’s gonna be dope.

OFFICIAL VID: The Black Keys / RZA – The Baddest Man Alive

October 22, 2012

Another day, another tidbit off that The Man With the Iron Fists train. I don’t think I need to go into what the film is and what cool soundtrack it has for the gazillionth time. Do I? Here’s the new video for The Black Keys’ collaboration with RZA (Wu-Tang Clan and director/writer of the film). The Baddest Man Alive is as bad as can be.

OFFICIAL VID: Method Man + Freddie Gibbs + Streetlife – Built For This

October 19, 2012

I shared a stream of the full soundtrack for feature film The Man With The Iron Fists yesterday, which is filled with epic collaborations across genres as well as work by both classic and new underground hip hop artists . In the meantime, Method Man, Freddie Gibbs, and Streetlife released a video for soundtrack album cut Built For This. The video features footage from the film which seems to pay some damn good tribute to old martial arts films while retaining that Quentin Tarantino pulp film style. RZA of Wu-Tang Clan looks to have directed and written a real gem. Built For This is a great piece of hip hop with some mystic charm. It’s old skool awesome. For many reasons, I suggest checking this film out. The dope soundtrack is one such reason.

The Black Keys and RZA (Wu Tang Clan)!

October 11, 2012

If The Rolling Stones’ new tune wasn’t enough rock and roll and bad ass ‘tude enough for you, then this should do it. RZA of Wu Tang Clan wrote and directed what looks like an incredible film that comes out on November 2 titled The Man With the Iron Fists. I’ve mentioned the Quentin Tarantino produced film on here before, and it’s something I’m sure to check out. A sick film by a Wu Tang Clan member must, by default, come with a sick soundtrack! The Black Keys and RZA teamed up for a bluesy hip hop track on the OST. The Baddest Man Alive is one will make you want to put on your shades and walk with a mad swagger.
