Nary a day has gone by lately without my sharing some form of new Portugal. the Man material, be it new tastes off of the band’s album WOODSTOCK, which arrives TOMORROW (note my extreme excitement), or incredible remixes of their magnificent single Feel It Still. I can’t wait for my copy of Woodstock to arrive tomorrow, but before we embark on that album journey, my favorite American psych rock band has unveiled another new treat to amplify are enthusiasm. Rich Friends is yet another behemoth jam from WOODSTOCK. It’s a bluesy snarling, funky searing tune that has me thoroughly convinced that WOODSTOCK is going to be a spectacular album, not just a one or two track wonder. Portugal. the Man is so going to slay at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley this July. If you’ve yet to lock in your copy of WOODSTOCK, grab it, here. Find out more about their tour, here.

I’m still kind of gutted that I had to miss my favorite American psych rock band, Portugal. the Man, when they played the intimate Independent in San Francisco earlier this year. The ticket for that show was a combo purchase with their Greek Theatre show in late July, too. I’ve yet to hear one of my favorite songs of the year, funky playful Feel It Still, live. Today, the band returns to their rock roots with a new single named So Young. It’s a steady thrumming, smoky cured charmer and proof that Portugal. the Man’s next album is going to be a diversified treat. Snarling riffs, brassy horns, and plenty of John Gourley’s slinky slick vocals bedeck the gem. We’ll get to hear Woodstock in full come June 16th. Pre-order, here.

I’ve been to my share of fests, but I’ve yet to go to Coachella, or legendary Woodstock. I know, huge mistakes. But Jon Bellion’s new song, Woodstock (Psychedelic Fiction), sure tells a great tale to fill that empty void. Woodstock is a stellar Bellion tune, showcasing his finely crafted, signature indie pop meets electronic and hip hop sound. The ornately sugared tune is a bold reminder why Jon Bellion has such a bevy of devoted fans. With the new track comes an announcement that he’ll be embarking on a 27 city national headline tour set to start May 26th. I happened to catch this guy in San Francisco during his fall tour last year, and boy, did he kill it. It’s no surprise. He is a Grammy winner, since he contributed to Eminem and Rihanna’s The Monster. Watch for a huge break out year for Jon.
