Fine new Arcade Fire tunes continue to roll out as the Grammy award winning band continues their “Everything Now” trek with new video and song Signs Of Life. “Everything Now Corp” has “taken over” the band’s socials as of late, and we’re now treated to another funky grooving jam that feels a bit like it’s from the Reflektor days, but with a late 70′s early 80′s ABBA feel that seems inherent in this new iteration of AF. Signs Of Life, which comes with a quirky paranormal investigation music video that seems to take the song quite literally, is our third taste from new album Everything Now, due out July 28th through “an exclusive 360-degree partnership with global media and e-commerce platform Everything Now, in synergy with Sony corporation.” Pre-order Everything Now, here.

So I’m exhausted, and I was actually going to call it a night, when I found out that Arcade Fire has unleashed the next single and video from their forthcoming album Everything Now after teasing Creature Comfort with a flurry of clips and even cereal boxes earlier this week in Dublin. Being the ginormous fan I am of The Arcade Fire, there was no hesitation involved in blasting the new tune in my living room. As soon as I heard Creature Comfort, I knew…. I had to hop on and share, STAT. Creature Comfort is an Arcade Fire JAM. Suddenly, I’m not tired anymore, and I’m ready to twirl all around the room. As much as Everything Now, the title track from their next album, is a new ABBA like evolution for an always changing band who puts out creative conceptual albums, Creature Comfort seems to harken back to an older iteration of their sound, but with a whole lot of pulsing, pounding dance energy. It even features Regine Chassagne on additional vocals alongside Win Butler, and it’s always such a treat to hear Regine. I can already see her dancing across the stage to Comfort Creature in my mind. I can’t wait to hear Creature Comfort live at the Oakland Arena this October. And I’ve already pre-ordered Everything Now. In fact, I’ve ordered the Day and Night bundle which includes some limited items. I couldn’t resist. Find out more about Arcade Fire’s forthcoming tour, here. Everything Now drops on July 28th. Pre-order, here

Some of you young ones probably have no idea what Knight Rider is, but as an 80′s baby, I grew up to David Hasselhoff’s show with talking car KITT. Win Butler of Arcade Fire (also known as DJ Windows 98 though he doesn’t use the moniker here) pays tribute of sorts to the show with a synthcore driven remake of esteemed English electronic outfit BEAK>’s  Sex Music. The glorious ‘Knight Rider’ remix feels like a warped 80′s version of some of Arcade Fire’s Reflektor era funky grooving jams. It’s dark and eerie, but in a flashy glittering manner. BEAK>’s original is out digitally via Invada Records with a 7″ to follow.

It’s been a huge, huge day for a die hard fan of Arcade Fire like me. Not only has the Grammy award winning Canadian band officially unleashed a new tune via a captivating video, but that song, Everything Now, has been announced as the title track from their fifth album arriving this summer. The band will also be heading out on an extensive tour in support of their new full length. The Canadian collective is blowing a lot of minds with their new song, too. Arcade Fire is well known for taking their sound in a fresh direction with every new full length, and it seems they’ve gone an ABBA meets Bowie and LCD Soundsystem sort of disco-pop-rock route with the first taste from their next album. The more I listen to flute saturated Everything Now, the more my love for it grows. Find out more about the band’s forthcoming tour on their website, here. They’ll be playing the Oakland Arena in October, and I’m all ready to snag my tickets when they go on sale. As for Everything Now, you can pre-order from various outlets, here. Some nice bundles featuring limited edition items are available from the official store. I couldn’t resist snagging the Day And Night bundle earlier. Like I said, I’m a huge, huge Arcade Fire fan.

My day has been long and insanely stressful, thanks to my day job, yet it couldn’t get any better now that both Gorillaz and now Arcade Fire have dropped fresh new material for us to lap up in all eagerness and love. “It’s never been more important that we stick together and take care of each other” states Mavis Staples and Arcade Fire as they partner up on an empowering anthem from which all proceeds will go to the American Civil Liberties Union. That’s right, I Give You Power is Arcade Fire’s own foray into the political music pervading the music scene this week. Funky strutting, soulful burning electronica evokes a mixture of Bowie, Soulwax/2manydjs, and, as talented singer songwriter/producer SHEARE himself had put it quite perceptively earlier today, “Yeezus daft punk era production”. I Give You Power feels like the next evolution of Reflektor, though the rumor is that this is a one off and not a taste from a future full length album (that should be arriving later this year, weeee!).

OFFICIAL VID: Arcade Fire – You Already Know

August 15, 2014

Yesterday, I said it was an awesome day, because Alt-J released a new tune. Today, I proclaim another awesome day, because Arcade Fire released a new video. I’m a devoted Arcade Fire fan, so of course, I can’t let the new video slide. I must share. The clip for You Already Know, which is an artsy play on live studio footage videos, does a quirky turn on art performing art. The whole thing was filmed and directed by Win Butler himself, who I had the pleasure of briefly meeting two weeks ago, the night prior to Arcade Fire’s show at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View. Yep. I met him. I met THE Win Butler. Then I got to hear tunes off all their albums, live, the next night. It was a happy week for this Arcade Fire fan. Watch the video for the song below. You Already Know, is of course, off AF’s recent album Reflektor, their fourth and another work of brilliance. I already can’t wait for a new AF album.

Alright, kids, I’ve been stuck here at work far too late, catching up on must share goodies with you. Let’s finish up with something that literally dropped my jaws this morning when I first saw it even existed. Are you ready? FLUME REMIXED ARCADE FIRE. Did you get that? FLUME REMIXED ARCADE FIRE. I just caught Flume STRAIGHT MURDER IT at one of the most energetic, crowded, and insane sets of Outside Lands Music Festival 2014 yesterday, and I KNEW he did not drop an Arcade Fire remix in his set. He dropped his Disclosure remix, his Lorde remix, and plenty of other tunes, but no Arcade Fire. Once I hit the play button on this new remix of Arcade Fire’s Afterlife, I understood why. This isn’t the usual Flume. This isn’t a massive chill trap banger for an Outside Lands set like yesterday’s. No, this one’s far more polarizing, if not even more brilliant. This one shows a full on understanding of Arcade Fire’s artistry, proof that Flume is indeed, an Arcade Fire fan himself. The complexity, the balance, and the meticulous nuances of this Afterlife remix is stuff that requires slow, thoughtful musings. As an Arcade Fire fan myself, I understand. And I greatly appreciate this beautiful, atmospheric, but NOT bass heavy re-imagining. It’s haunting. It’s fantastic. I have a feeling Win and Regine love this, too. I’m going home. And I’m going to blast this, on my living room system, and delve into deep, profound, spiritual thought. Thanks, Flume.

OFFICIAL VID: Arcade Fire – We Exist

May 16, 2014

Ahhhh, yes! It’s here! Arcade Fire has released their video for Reflektor track We Exist! The video, which includes scenes shot at Coachella 2014, stars Andrew Garfield and makes a very strong statement. In fact, the whole thing reminds me very much of Dallas Buyer’s Club. Pretty dope video, if you ask me. I don’t think I need to get much into the brilliance of Arcade Fire and their music, do I? I was just revisiting a long list of their songs late last night!
