We’ve already learned from past experience with London’s William Arcane that his music can be exquisitely moving yet ghostly haunting. Thom Yorke and Phoria like experimental tones combine with SOHN like bold hues on dark hovering Hourglass, the latest single from the brilliant singer songwriter and producer. This atmospheric creeping, melancholic meditating beauty is the ornate and complex title track from an EP arriving November 29th. Hourglass a shadowy shape shifter, always moving, always changing, just like the combined granules of sand in an hourglass. It’s deeply sorrowful, which is exactly how I tend to feel about time itself. A quiet night of introspection and deep rumination goes hand in hand with this spectacular song.

OFFICIAL VID: William Arcane – Reckless

February 24, 2015

London’s William Arcane dropped a video for his song Reckless, the title track off his EP last year. As always, he reminds me a little of Thom Yorke meets SOHN with the progressive, textured, and haunting electronic production on his alternative music. It’s an utterly bewitching song, now with a dark, mesmerizing video to accompany it.

A month ago, I gleefully introduced you to a new artist out of London named William Arcane and his haunting electronic and experimental pop music. He continues to sweep me away with new introspective track Sunfades, a wispy taste off his forthcoming Reckless EP, out October 20 on Pictures Music. It’s a forlorn but beautiful piece of airy music that immediately reminded me of Thom Yorke, with bewitching electronic production that, like before, brings to mind SOHN, Caribou, and Jamie xx. Sunfades is one of those superbly artistic tunes that retains a realistic, humanistic earthiness, despite its profusive, exquisite detail. Revisit previously featured Stay Awhile and its captivating darkness below.

I’m sublimely happy to have encountered London artist William Arcane’s music today. His haunting music joins the ranks of modern, evolving electronic and experimental pop music that we’ve been hearing these past years from the likes of James Blake, SOHN, Caribou, and Jamie XX. His new song, Stay A While, is a shadowy, layered work of art. It’s highly textured, and deeply emotional. I’m even reminded a bit of Thom Yorke. Upon delving deeper into William Arcane’s repertoire, I was much pleased and impressed by everything I heard, including ethereal Fade and enthralling, chamber flavored Reflected, both below. I’m calling it now. William Arcane is one to watch.
