Los Angeles based songstress White Sea, aka Morgan Kibby, is in the midst of revealing songs from her Postcards From Nowhere interactive art project. The fourth single to come our way from the series is a flushed grooving, luscious rousing synthpop song named Yesterday. As with any song about the past, Yesterday is much imbibed with nostalgia, but its longing is expressed in richly pumping beats and breathy entrancing, seductive plush vocals. Yesterday and all the songs being unveiled from the Postcards From Nowhere project will culminate in White Sea’s sophomore album, out later this year. Yesterday can be purchased as a single now from iTunes.

Morgan Kibby has been forging a very impressive career as White Sea since her departure from M83. The Los Angeles based songstress has shared a new single today named Ellipses, and it’s staggering. Frosty intense and darkly haunting electronic pop takes us on elliptical loops of dizzying splendor. Ellipses is gothic and operatic, and the latitude and reach of Morgan Kibby’s voice is as stunning as ever. The whirring song is the third shared from White Sea’s interactive art project Postcards From Nowhere, which allows her to share postcards, demos, polaroids, correspondence, and more directly with fans without  boundaries. Ellipses is available now on iTunes.

Like the cresting, crashing waves her name might refer to, White Sea’s music tends to roll in with grandiose power and bold flair. While I’ve always loved Morgan Kibby’s role in M83, I’ve also come to fall deeply in love with her solo work as White Sea. She follows up on earlier this year’s bubbly Stay Young, Get Stoned, with a blithe and bouncy pop treat named Never A Woman that boasts an abundance of throwback HAIM like 80′s groove. Of course, Morgan’s voice does some astonishing calisthenics on the tune, too, something I’ve always loved about her delivery. Never A Woman is available now on iTunes.

Is it just me, or have the references to a specific type of drug become much more blatant in pop music lately, though it’s been glaringly present for a long time now in other genres like rock and hip hop? White Sea, or Morgan Kibby of M83, goes full out with an ode to youth and recreation. Hooking Stay Young, Get Stoned is Morgan Kibby’s most bubbly pop song yet. While I miss some of her magnificently high flying vocal range on the mostly mid ranged tune, it’s certainly a sugary, infectious treat. Stay Young, Get Stoned is available now on iTunes.

So, I have something to confess. I’ve been enjoying Big Data’s new album 2.0 so much that I’m having a hard time retiring it from my disc rotation. I want to keep it in there as my jolt of thrilling energy. The album is chock full of amazing guest features, including a track titled The Business Of Emotion, which features none other than White Sea, or Morgan Kibby from M83. NYC electronic act Lefti, who last gave us a wicked AVAN LAVA remix, returns with a remix of this exact tune, giving it a bumping makeover perfect for those of us who can’t resist electro disco bangers. Throw this one on loud, and keep it flowing with some Justice. Your friends will love you.

Man Without Country announced their sophomore album, Maximum Entropy, which will be released on January 19 via Lost Balloon. The South Wales duo also revealed the first single off the LP, Laws Of Motion, a pulsing song that features sublime, always beautiful guest vocals by White Sea, or Morgan Kibby (of M83). Laws Of Motion is a magnificent, warm electronic pop song, full of lush synths and a dreamy, radiant atmosphere. I bet Newton would’ve loved this.

It feels like I’ve been loving New York electropop act Big Data’s Dangerous for such a long time, and I’ll continue doing so for a long time to come, but there’s certainly cause for celebration now that Big Data has dropped a new one. Plus, The Business Of Emotion features White Sea, aka Morgan Kibby (also of M83)! The Business Of Emotion is a thundering, crashing, and high soaring electronic pop extravaganza, full of endless energy and massive hooks. I’m also quite tickled by the Facebook jabbing artwork for the single.
