This new Weezer cover that surfaced today is a must share. I love Toto’s epic 80s anthem Africa, cheesy or not, and apparently, fans have been clamoring at Weezer to cover it. And now they have! I was fortunate enough to catch Rivers Cuomo doing a solo show just a few weeks ago at Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco. He did a flurry of covers, but it would’ve been sweet to hear this Africa cover live, too. You can stream/download Weezer’s rendition, here.

AJR’s Sober Up, which features Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo, is a heckuva big tune right now lighting up all the alt charts. I can’t resist the infectious track every time it comes on the radio, so here we are, taking in the new music video AJR just dropped yesterday for Sober Up. AJR’s breakout single is like an earthy approach on twenty one pilots’ genre defying music. It’s a foot stomping, guitar strumming hit from the NYC band, a trio of brothers who are more than making their mark with their resounding music. Sober Up can be found on AJR’s debut album The Click, out on iTunes, here.

It’s not often that a primo Weezer remix crops up, much less a disco inspired one, but that’s exactly what Brooklyn nu-disco producer LEFTI has crafted for the legendary punk and power pop band. LEFTI gives Weezer’s Pacific Daydream track Happy Hour a plump grooving dance makeover on his official remix, and it’s as happy a three minutes as can be. This Happy Hour is like a blend of RAC and Breakbot, with a whole lot of frisky buoyancy. You can snag LEFTI’s remix from iTunes, here.

We don’t have much too long to wait before Weezer releases yet another highly anticipated full length. Pacific Daydream arrives on October 27th via Crush Music / Atlantic Records. The legendary band has revealed a new infectious song off the album, and it’s quite the effulgent and effervescent charmer. Happy Hour boasts a synthy glimmering veneer and a contagious cadence. It feels like Weezer is channeling a combination of Mutemath and Bear Hands. Weezer will be gracing the bay with an appearance at Live 105′s Not So Silent Night. Find out more about this year’s holiday festivities and its stellar two night lineup, here.

We’ve made it pretty clear how doubly excited we are for RAC’s new album and for his appearance at Outside Lands Music Festival this August, too. The Grammy nominated producer unleashed a dazzling summertime prancer off of EGO earlier this month in the form of I Still Wanna Know, which features none other than Rivers Cuomo of Weezer fame. Let’s twirl about in ecstasy to a lifting remix of that song by Los Angeles producer Goldroom. He amplifies the song’s balmy buoyancy by administering a glowing dance pop treatment on the jocund remix. Goldroom will also be at Outside Lands Music Festival later this summer. It’s going to be a mighty fine weekend of uplifting and vibrant music with these two at hand. Pre-order RAC’s album EGO ahead of its release on July 14th, here

Yesterday, I found out on RAC’s socials that he’d announced his new album EGO, out on July 14th. After I did a requisite happy dance around the room, I noticed that the Grammy award winning producer was asking his multitude of fans to guess who the featured artists might be on EGO. It’s a tough challenge considering all the musicians who would love to work with the esteemed artist, and I certainly would never have guessed the guest on today’s new single, I Still Wanna Know. This summertime prancer and luminous dazzler features none other than Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo, who lends his vocals and a guitar solo to the heartwarming indie dance anthem. I Still Wanna Know also feature additional production by Classixx. Turns out,

Allen Anjos, Classixx, and Rivers Cuomo make a sublime team. Together, they’ve crafted a dance pop gem that ventures into alt pop and pop rock territory. The sleek throbbing, riff soaring spectacular is available to stream/download, here. You can pre-order EGO, here. I’ll be awaiting that ebullient RAC dance party when he plays Outside Lands Music Festival come August.

It’s not everyday that we sound the horn upon encountering news of an exciting new festival, but we just can’t help ourselves when it comes to ID10T, a music festival and “comic conival” created and hosted by comedian, musician, actor, television host, and Nerdist founder Chris Hardwick. AND the festival is happening right here, in the Bay, at the Shoreline Amphitheatre just south of me this June.

ID10T features an incredible lineup of musical talent. It’s surprising how vast and expansive the lineup is, ranging from Weezer to Crystal Castles, Girl Talk to OK Go. A sure to be incendiary Mad Decent dance tent also features long time I Heart Moosiq supported production stars, like Jai Wolf, Gryffin, Madeon, and more.

Alongside all that fabulous music comes a whole lot of daytime comic book and art related activities featuring famed creators plus a full exhibitor village. As if that isn’t already plenty to take in, there’s also going to be a comedy tent.

You all know I’m a music fanatic, but I also spend my spare time watching The Walking Dead, marveling over art, enjoying Marvel films, and more. ID10T really can’t be more exciting, a perfect way to spend a summer weekend. It also kicks off at a more than affordable price compared to all the other events and festivals that cost an arm and a leg these days. Find out more about ID10T, here.

I’m not sure whether it’s ironic or a critical reminder that we’re diving into a remix of Weezer’s I Love the USA tonight, less than 24 hours since half our nation voted Trump into the presidency. I’d like to believe it’s the latter of the two, as no matter what, I still do love our country and the wonderfully diverse people who make up its population. Canadian siblings Love Thy Brother have given the punk rock legends’ song an official treatment that changes things up quite a lot. If you’ve ever wondered what deep house Weezer might sound like, today’s the day you find out. The duo retain some of the original’s echoing riffs but insert plenty of resounding percussion and beats as they douse us with a wildly unique take on I Love the USA. Love Thy Brother even offered up the resonant track with a heartwarming message. They state: “This song is a reminder that we Canadians love you guys down there. You’re already great in our eyes.” And this was before the results rolled in, too. Thanks, Love Thy Brother! We love you, too. Their remix of I Love the USA can be downloaded for free, here.

Zeds Dead’s star studded Northern Lights album is most certainly one of the highlight electronic dance albums of the year, and red hot single Too Young is easily one of the top jams of this fall. We dive into the jaunty snapping dance track via its adorable stop motion animation music video tonight as we whip our heads from side to side to Rivers Cuomo and Pusher T’s lilting vocals. This playful charming mid-tempo treat showcases this Canadian production duo’s imaginative vision and versatile skillset. Snag your copy of Zeds Dead’s Northern Lights from iTunes.

There’s nothing better to kick off a glorious July 4th Independence Day holiday here in the U.S. then a new one off Weezer single named I Love the USA! This certainly isn’t the usual Weezer we’re used to. This one’s more a mellow piano drifter, and it’s gorgeous. Today, NASA’s Juno spacecraft arrives into Jupiter’s orbit after five long years. I Love The USA was written after NASA asked Weezer to write about Juno. There’s a bittersweet, poignant quality to the rather contemplative song.
