If you haven’t listened to Flume’s new Skin Companion EP II since its release last week, what are you waiting for? The now Grammy winning electronic virtuoso dazzles with yet another set of incredible tracks, any of which feature massive guests, too. As a huge fan of Glass Animal’s famous peanut butter vibes, I was immediately drawn to Fantastic, which features Dave from Glass Animals on languorous drawling vocals. Glass Animals and Flume make a hypnogic pair on the rumbling head trip of a future bass ambler. Also on the EP is a solo instrumental named Depth Charge that more than lives up to its name and harkens back to earlier Flume. Harley teams up with Moses Sumney on a woozy marching, introspective brooding cut named Weekend. He also links up with Pusha T on what is probably the most harshly rattling, explosive jolting track on the EP, Enough. Stream all these face melting treats below. Flume’s Skin Companion EP II is available from all major outlets, here. You can also pre-order the EP on gorgeous 150g 12″ vinyl, here. The vinyl edition includes an unannounced bonus fifth track!

Though Louis The Child’s latest majestic hit Fire has been taking all the limelight, the Chicago duo’s collaboration with Icona Pop, Weekend, still tends to sneak its way inside my head on a regular basis. It’s just far too catchy of a thriller. Friday night is a more than befitting time to re-visit the track, albeit via a new bootleg of the track by Barcelona’s Kismet. If you thought the original burst with hyper active energy, wait till you hear Kismet’s approach on the track. This bouncy jostling, squishy animated, twerk and moombahton accented eruption of ecstatic noise will certainly leave you dizzily grinning ear to ear.

Perhaps it was an unforgivable error that I didn’t find time to share this magnificent jam on Friday prior to our now forgone weekend, but honestly, any weekday could now be as epic as the weekend. And all you have to do is press play on Louis The Child’s Weekend. The vivacious jouncing, triumphal carousing future pop banger is obviously going to be one of this summer’s biggest dance hits, and it features Sweden’s Icona Pop, too. This long time supporter of both sensational acts feels like a gift has just dropped down to us from the music heavens, and I can’t be more grateful. The loaded tune is wildly infectious. Weekend also boasts a fun, rowdy music video which you can stream below. The single is out now on Big Beat Records and can be purhased from iTunes.

My heart leaped out of my chest the other day when I noticed Louis The Child teasing a brand new collab, one which also features Swedish dance and electropop duo Icona Pop. Louis the Child and Icona Pop altogether on one track is sure to be tremendous, plus I have a deep fondness for both sets of duos, having supported both from very early on. Though Weekend hasn’t been unleashed on our eager ears just yet, Louis The Child has generously revealed a remix of the track by Los Angeles’ SNBRN. Considering the fact that the weekend has just arrived, this couldn’t come at a more opportune moment. SNBRN’s remix is a jouncing bright, vibrant explosive sunset house banger. Grab the massive jam on iTunes, and eagerly await the original besides me.

British alt rockers The Mispers have done it again. Their first single of 2014, Weekend, is yet another driving and bright indie treat. The quintet bring on the same gruff but charming style that first won me over on songs like Shoulder and Dark Bits last year. Bountiful melodic guitars and a Grizfolk or KONGOS meets Manchester Orchestra sound hook me right back in to their music. I have a feeling the year’s going to be a sweet one for this band.

Mocki – Weekend

January 29, 2015

Last week, I shared a killer melodic future bass and trap remix of Mocki’s Weekend by the always amazing Jai Wolf. I recall someone commenting that they couldn’t find the original anywhere. Here ya go, buddy. NOW, the original is available to stream. Mocki is a new act signed to Kitsune Maison, consisting of vocalist/songwriter Domino and German production duo Sister. They obviously have the goods when it comes to infectious, peppy electronic pop music. Hints of Kiesza like house punctuate the song, which also boasts plenty of Clean Bandit reminiscent bubbly progressions. It’s a combo that’s a stright shot for my heart, considering my love of both those acts. The Weekend EP is out now on Kitsune. Included on the release is the aforementioned Jai Wolf remix and remixes by Ruffian and Young Ruffian. Let’s revisit Jai Wolf’s take on Weekend below again, shall we?

Jai Wolf, the rising producer who gave me several of my top favorite remixes of 2014, returns with an intoxicating edit of new Kitsune production act Mocki’s debut single Weekend. Jai Wolf takes the hooking song and infuses it with plenty of melodic future bass and trap texture. At times effervescent and bubbly, at other times slick and smooth, it’s an immensely infectious, bright, and playful treat. The remix will be out January 27th.

It’s been over a month since VÉRITÉ dropped her spectacular debut EP Echo. On it is the gorgeous and upbeat electronic pop ballad Weekend. A song as mellifluous as this, carrying as sparkling and beautiful vocals as VÉRITÉ’s, is perfect for remixing into an uplifting, euphoric progressive house track. That’s exactly what New York producer ALMOND and his buddies Canadian duo FYKA did with the tune, creating a feel good experience that reminds me of Zedd’s Clarity. The talented acts worked from scratch, utilizing the acapella vocals and building off of it.

New York songstress VÉRITÉ’s superbly catchy pop ballad Weekend, the one track out of her repertoire that tends to remind me of Robyn, has been remixed by Los Angeles’ Penguin Prison. The coast to coast affair infuses the original with plenty of nu-disco and indie dance energy that’s far too infectious and contagious. The remix comes with a remix EP announcement from VÉRITÉ that will be out next month. This means we have more delicious remixes of her tunes to look forward to!
