Perhaps you somehow missed the news and buzz surrounding this welcome development, but in case you didn’t know, Theresa Wayman of Los Angeles art rock band Warpaint has been releasing some fabulous new music as solo project TT. In fact, she just released her debut album LoveLaws last Friday, and it’s high time we pay homage by sharing its latest single, a murky, muddy trip hop and art pop song named The Dream. It’s a heady Björk meets

treat that I’m very much looking forward to sinking into live when TT headlines Popscene in San Francisco on July 6th (with our French-American favorites Freedom Fry supporting, too). For more tour dates and links to TT’s debut album, head over to her site, here.

I’m so glad I stumbled upon new music from Trentemøller, albeit a little bit late. I had no idea that the Danish producer and multi-instrumentalist had dropped a new song last month featuring Warpaint’s jennylee. Hands Down is a surprisingly post-punk leaning track, too. You can listen to Hands Down and purchase the track from Bandcamp, here. Today, we visit a “Blissed Out Mix” of the song, an edit by Trentemøller himself that I find myself drawn to even more than the original due to its haunting ambient electronica and its darkwave atmosphere. This remix of Hands Down is like angular Savages blended with gauzy, synthy TR/ST, a combo which I’m sure I wouldn’t be able to resist if the two bands ever joined forces for a tune. This alternate version of Hands Down is also available from Bandcamp, here.

A serendipitous morning earlier this week brought me to the intensely enthralling sounds of enigmatic project Mossy. and the only bit of information I could find about what I’m guessing is a singer songwriter and producer is the following on his Twitter account: “the sound of trees melting”. Mossy.’s one song on Soundcloud, Warpaint, feels like the sound of everything melting and liquefying. The song is a razor buzzing, raw searing display of genre defying creativity. Ben Khan like funky guitars and Opia meets Bryce Fox sooty electro soul come together on resolute Warpaint. Who needs actual warpaint when we have Mossy. to urge us onward, battle ready and bursting with swaggering confidence? Warpaint is out now on iTunes

Whiteout is the latest treat Warpaint has revealed off of their third full length, Heads Up, due out later this month. While prior track New Song is undoubtedly one of the Los Angeles art rock and dream pop band’s most catchy tunes, Whiteout takes us deep into a filmy introspective, gauzy purring world of entrancement. Whiteout’s tense bassline and Warpaint’s simmering vocals make this one of their more darkly gripping numbers. Pre-order Heads Up before its September 23rd release from various outlets, here. The band will be making a stop at the Fillmore in San Francisco on October 12th whilst on tour.

Interestingly enough, Warpaint’s new song is named… well, New Song. The Los Angeles art rock and dream pop four piece are gearing up for the release of their third full length album, Heads Up, and New Song is our very first taste of that record. This one’s quite the seductive dance rock chugger, a driving jam that feels nearly Foals and Wild Beasts like. I’m sure it’s going to be loads of fun getting down to New Song when Warpaint goes on tour this fall. They’ll be stopping by the Fillmore in San Francisco on October 12th. Heads Up will be out September 23rd on Rough Trade. Pre-order from various outlets, here.

It’s been some time since I came upon any news about Brooklyn indie pop duo Manicanparty, and a long time since I first heard their electropop sound, circa two years ago. I’m still very much fond of their awesome cover of Miike Snow’s Animals, but what are they up to? Turns out, they have a great new EP, The District,, out this week, and on it is this stomping, powerful synthpop anthem Achilles Heel, one of their boldest, most well produced songs yet. Also on the EP is Warpaint, which sees them return back to the more exotic percussion that embellished many of their older material. You can check out the full EP on their Soundcloud

OFFICIAL VID: Warpaint – Disco // Very – Keep It Healthy

Warpaint’s self titled sophomore album came out earlier this year, and as expected, it’s one fantastic release. Love Is To Die was the lead single and most brilliant track off the album, but the rest of the LP is enthralling, too. Today, the Los Angeles art rockers release a double video for album tracks Disco // Very and Keep It Healthy. The clip, though simple, is somehow supremely captivating (skaters will dig the second clip most), just like the quartet’s exquisite, unique music. The art punky Disco // Very is incredibly haunting and dreamy, while Keep It Healthy is enchanting and magical.

Brody Dalle is well known as the frontwoman of bands like The Distillers and Spinerette, but lately, she’s been going at it solo. Meet The Foetus / Oh The Joy is the first solo single we can hear from the rocker, who recently completed her debut album, and it’s a satisfying, guttural, grungy thumper of a track. Backup vocals are by Emily Kokal of Warpaint and Shirley Manson of Garbage, and there’s certainly a blend of both amazing bands’ sounds on this scintillating song.
