I apologize for making you wait for this share. After all, I’ve been astounded and awe-struck by mysterious newcomer ilo ilo’s wait for many days now. And I regret that it took me awhile to find the time to share the electronic debut, whose island luster, breezy steel pans, and nimble future beats remind me of Mura Masa and Cashmere Cat. It’s a heckuva first release from what I’m assuming is a much gifted producer, but please correct me if this is a group and not just one artist. All that’s listed on Soundcloud is a number I haven’t tried to dial yet (808.202.2690), and an instagram account you can check out, here. wait can also be streamed via Spotify, here.

I don’t really remember my Myers-Briggs Type, but I recall it fully reflected the fact that I’m an introvert who likes to do extrovert things every so often. As such, I’m no fan of small talk, but give me some cerebral, meaningful conversation and I could get passionate in an instant. Despite that fact, I find myself immediately falling for a new duo out of California named smalltalk, who describe themselves as “professional sad boys” from Los Angeles and San Francisco. They’ve also listed their names as Peter and Parker on Soundcloud, but they could be professing their love for Spiderman, too. Either way, smalltalk makes their mark on our hearts with their first single, ‘wait’, a slow churning alt pop and electro-soul ballad with soft horns, feathery keys, a muggy simmering atmosphere, and smooth molten cooing. ‘wait’ is a laid back suitor and a dreamy strolling debut that hugs the delicate furrows of our hearts with its achy yearning and tender longing. I suppose it’s more than proper that we now must wait to hear from smalltalk again. You can also stream ‘wait’ via Spotify, here.

We may have just shared NoMBe’s latest genre bending single less than 24 hours ago, and it may have blown us away yet again, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still be obsessed with earlier single Wait, a silky smooth melter reminiscent of earthy Milky Chance mixed with jazzy Tom Misch. UK producer James Carter gives us the perfect opportunity to re-visit Wait, albeit a dance emphatic version of it, via his intoxicating remix. Chill melodic house meets Gryffin like guitar lush tropical radiance on the velveteen swooning edit, which is a free download, here.

Germany by way of Los Angeles artist NoMBe takes his time between releases, keeping me on my toes and leaving me fidgeting with eager anticipation in between singles. Wait, which made its debut on Triple J, is his first song of the year. With it, he reminds me why I find his silky smooth vocals and acoustic meets electro soul overwhelmingly irresistible. Wait’s cottony beats and sultry warm guitar tempt me to dance yet melt my fluttering heart. This jazzy plush jam is like a sumptuous cross between Milky Chance and Tom Misch. Wait comes as a taste of NoMBe’s debut album, They Might’ve Even Loved Me, a “brutally honest account of romance, sex, and heartbreak”. The album was inspired by the women who have shaped his life, ranging from his godmother Chaka Khan to his high school crushes, girlfriends, and summer flings. I can’t wait to hear more from this fascinating narrative. Wait, out on TH3RD BRAIN, can also be streamed on Spotify.

For some reason, FLORIO has scrubbed his prior songs off his Soundcloud account. Fortunately for us, the now New York based singer songwriter makes us whole again with a fresh new tune named Wait. Flushed flickering synthpop takes us back to the 80′s on this MUNA and The 1975 evoking swathe of molten lusciousness. The impassioned longing bursting from the torrid depths of Wait syncs with our yearning for FLORIO’s debut album, TEENAGERS. FLORIO describes the full length as an “emotional, turbulent record; bringing the story of a young relationship to the forefront”. It sounds like TEENAGERS will be as 35mm dashing as its new single, Wait. The single is available now from iTunes.

The pulsing synths on Voes’ Wait had me hooked from the get go. The quartet from South Wales have stolen my heart with their luscious pumping, elegant simmering gem. Dark disco imbues this stunning blend of Muna meets HAIM like groove and Avec Sans like ethereal electropop, all topped off with passionate horns that exude 80′s romance to no end. Wait is irresistible and a favorite new obsession.

My heart skipped a beat when I first saw the subject line from an email standing out bold and with significance as I perused my inbox this morning. Quickly, my eyes caught the following words: POSTILJONEN RETURN. I feel deeply in love with Postiljonen a few years ago, thanks to the Swedish and Norwegian synthpop acts’ incredibly dreamy, sometimes M83 like sound. The band released an excellent though underrated debut album in 2013 then they seemed to disappear into thin air. It’s with much pleasure that I get to share their return, a blissful, sublime song named Wait. It brings me right back to why I fell head over heels for them in the first place. Lush, plush folds of hazy, foggy warmth glide and swirl around me while I listen to Wait. The sax imbued, 80′s infused heavenly song was most definitely worth that wait. Excuse me for a minute, as I can’t keep myself from floating all over the room while sighing in elation.

Last week, we heard Tourist’s amazing return, in the form of new track Wait, a haunting and finely textured treat. The downtempo style and entrancing percussion on the song builds up to an exhilarating experience. If you missed it, check it out now, along with its captivating new video. Wait will be available on iTunes October 26, via Monday Records. A debut album is finally in the works, as well, and Wait will be on it. Ah yes, we’ll wait… because we know it’s going to be brilliant.

The amazing Tourist is back with a new production after giving us that terrific Patterns EP earlier this year. Newly signed to Polydor Records, he’s been busy performing on the festival circuit and crafting a debut album for next year. Wait is our first new taste from him in awhile, and it seems to be a return to earlier form with its shadowy atmosphere and downtempo ambiance. Sure, the word “haunting” gets thrown around a lot, as many have mentioned lately, and I’m guilty of it, but tell me Wait isn’t haunting and entrancing. And just wait till the 3:36 mark… such exhilarating bliss. Tourist will be performing in all major UK cities in November, as part of the Annie Mac  Presents tour.
