From one monumental trap and bass producer, we turn to another acclaimed bass duo for some panoramic thrills and heart pumping exhilaration. Los Angeles’ SLANDER offers up emotionally charged melodic bass and progressive house on sprawling opus HAPPY NOW, and while the song carries some very poignant undertones, we’re extremely elated to ride this rising tide driven by heartbreak and nostalgia. According to Slander, Happy Now started off as a collaboration with San Holo two years ago. Slander has since let it evolve organically from there and

ompleted the track themselves. It’s a high flying anthem that shows us a different side to Slander. HAPPY NOW is out now via Monstercat.

A happenstance discovery, or a blessing of an encounter, brought us to outsideOUTSIDE, a new alt project entirely shrouded in mystery. Try as we might, we can’t find anything about the band. Their socials are devoid of description. But outsideOUTSIDE has released an exceptional first single named Habits, a poignant and crestfallen mixture of dusky electronica, glitchy shuddering vocal bass, and raspy aching emo alt rock. It’s almost as if EDEN, Twenty One Pilots, and ECHOS came together to create a vulnerable and emotive genre defying tour de force. Habits comes accompanied by a music video which you can watch below. You can count on it that we’ll be on the lookout for more info regarding these newcomers. Habits can also be streamed via Spotify, here.

Just seeing the name ATB floods me with an immense wave of nostalgia. The German production veteran was a favorite during my raving days nearly two decades ago, when I was insanely addicted to epic trance. Los Angeles bass experts Pixel Terror pay tribute to the duo with a remix of ATB’s 2004 single Ecstasy, turning the blissed out vocal trance track into a melodic dubstep masterpiece loaded with cosmic synths and dizzying drops. You can download their remix for free, here.

Spce CadeX is a production duo from NY, but they describe themselves as future bass producers from outer space. Well, I could certainly use a trip to the cosmos right now after a long, tiring week of catching up on everything after the holidays, and their remix of Walk The Moon’s breakout hit Shut Up And Dance is just the perfect rocket ship to take me there. Spce CadeX’s Shut Up And Dance is a lavish future bass transformation, always shifting and lunging. It’s pure euphoria, just like their remix of The Chainsmokers’ Honest, which was really the first track from Spce CadeX we stumbled across. Stream that galvanizing remix below. The pair are also adept at constructing originals, as demonstrated by their original Hypnotize (Armada Zouk), which feels kind of like an ethereal sci-fi fantasy trip. Stream Hypnotize below, too.

I think we can all agree that Deadmau5′s Raise Your Weapon is a dance classic off of Zimmerman’s influential 2011 album 4×4=12. Those of us that have heard it live probably have that memory etched deeply into, not just our minds, but our hearts, too. There may not be a more cathartic electronic music experience than a whole arena, stadium, or field of like-minded people singing along to this galvanizing anthem. Salt Lake City production artist Fransis Derelle and Detroit electronic talent SWRVN have chosen to take on the timeless hit on their collaborative remix, which is no small feat to attempt. But they’ve done so masterfully, building on the exultant emotion and heart bursting beauty of the original to give us this atmospheric and explosive future bass remix. It’s a breathtaking and exhilarating new modern update, and it’s a free download, here.

Ever since we heard Brothel.’s collaboration with Sidewalks and Skeletons, Desolate, we’ve been hooked on the Colorado producer’s dark brooding, dramatic and atmospheric electronica. The master sound designer presents us with a whole lot of wavy droning synths and guttural rumbling bass on BLENDLINE alongside Australia’s VOWL. Imagine k?d and Porter, gone extra cinematic and ominously opaque, and you’d get a bit of a taste of what the pairing has to offer on this widescreen sprawling alt inflected electro bass spectacular, a total re-work of alt/emo band nothing, nowhere’s ‘clarity in keroscene’. Download the track, here.

There seems to an exciting spurt of Brazilian producers capturing our attention and enslaving our hearts with their electronic music these days. Marcioz, who’s a member of bitbird’s esteemed roster of talent, teaches us “How To Fall In Love With A Machine” on his new single, featuring London based singer songwriter and producer Slow Shudder on ethereal vocals. We fall in love, not with a machine, but with this gorgeous song, a shadowy glimmering electronic aria imbued with coruscant pop. Marcioz explains: “At the time I had just broken up with my girlfriend and it completely fit the narrative that I have about people. People come and go, but my computer always stays. So I think that’s how you get love to stay– just fall in love with a machine.“ Stream/download the eloquent and evocative electronic track, here.

ZHU, Skrillex, and THEY. were a jaw dropping triumvirate when the three acts united on mega-hit Working For It two years ago. Even today, I still can’t get enough of that massive tune, which you can re-visit via YouTube, here. A mysterious brother duo named TWO LANES has served up a brilliant re-imagination of the track. It’s a robust whirring future bass and melodic bass edit.  The electronic project plans on releasing their very first single, Long Way Home, on January 26th. This gripping remix of Working For It certainly leaves us salivating for more from the pair, and we can’t wait to hear their single.

LA based DJ and production act Mako is preparing to head back out on tour in early 2018, and the impetus for the tour’s name is latest single Breathe. Though once a duo, Mako is now centered around songcrafter and producer Alex Seaver as a solo act. This unexpected cutback in project members obviously has not had a negative effect on Mako’s music. Breathe is an emotionally charged chill house, vocal bass, and melodic pop piece whose potent sentimentality could very well leave you gasping for air once its dulcet notes, dreamy strums, and melancholic vocals fade away. Breathe is out now via Ultra. You can also stream the single via Spotify, here. Find out more about Mako’s Breathe tour, here.

Aside from lending the aerial grace of her voice to 3LAU’s Walk Away recently, Phoenix singer songwriter Luna Aura has also released a genre-bending new single named Sucker Punch. It’s a rhythmic driving, viscerally galvanizing electro-pop and string lavish alt pop ballad packing a fiery punch and propelled by her sultry, breathy vocals. Sucker Punch ventures into future pop territory with its rich roiling waves of electronica and shadowy production. Luna Aura will be performing her arresting music at the Resident in Los Angeles on December 14th. Stream Sucker Punch on Spotify, here.
