It’s hard to believe a full year has flown by since we had the honor and pleasure of premiering VINCI’s debut single Lions. The Irish band made a spectacular entrance with that song, a powerfully moving, earthy and soulful rock anthem that placed them front and center on our bands to watch radar right away. Since then, the Dublin based five piece have played a flurry of successful shows back home in the UK. Their buzz will surely continue to grow, and perhaps circumnavigate the world, too, now that VINCI has released another sincerely heartrending and emotively gripping new indie rock song named We Are Ghosts, on which they reunite with renowned producer Philip Magee (Kodalin / The Script). The beautifully bittersweet ballad tugs hard at the ragged sutures of our wounded hearts. We nearly fall apart, but We Are Ghosts’ cathartic sweeping chorus and rhapsodic strings keep us together. VINCI helps us stay strong in the face of heartbreaking adversity. You can also stream We Are Ghosts via Spotify, here. Re-visit prior singles Liars and Lions on Soundcloud, here.

Watch out, world, a dashing band of lads have arrived out of Ireland with a moving first single, one which we’ve been wildly eager to share since a fortuitous early preview.

Kurtis (writer/vocals/guitar), Noely (bass), Andy (lead), Doyler (cello/keys), and Leo (drums) have all experienced highs in other bands, but it was the lows that fatefully brought them together. The five fellows from Dublin have bonded through their songs. They call themselves Vinci. a name inspired by the Latin word “vincere”, defined as “to conquer, defeat, beat; to overcome, overwhelm”.

Vinci promptly conquers my heart and overwhelms my senses with Lions, their sweeping, sprawling debut single from a forthcoming four track EP produced by Philip Magee, a man with an eye for great Irish bands who has been instrumental in the foundation and success of hugely popular bands like The Script, Kodaline, and recently, The Academic.

Vinci’s cinematic & panoramic amalgamation of weathered rock and rhapsodic pop is gritty sincere, bluesy soulful, and raw yet beautiful. Lions sends listeners on a spiraling ascent with its burst of sheer emotive power, an effect that brings to mind a heartrending combination of Bastille, Maverick Sabre, Hozier, and Kodaline. Despite its stadium ready potency, Lions is frayed and intimate.

In fact, it feels as if Vinci is performing Lions exclusively for us in the song’s visual accompaniment, a murky gem of a music video that happens to be the first and only one that any band has ever shot at Dublin’s handsome & historic City Hall. All these firsts, an incredible single, and a beautiful video? It seems Vinci is poised for some very big things.

Catch Vinci at their debut headline show in Dublin at The Grand Social on December 2nd. Tickets will be on sale this weekend for €10. You can follow the band on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. Their magnificent single Lions is available for purchase from iTunes.
