Valentine’s Day is fast approaching. As much as it’s a day when many celebrate the beauty of love, it’s also a day that many choose to hate, whether due to the fact that there’s a lack of love in their lives, or because they just hate how commercialized Valentine’s Day has become. San Diego surf punk band The Frights seem to fall in the latter. The four piece band just signed to Epitaph Records, and their new song on the label is a bitter lilting, acerbic chugging punk anthem named Valentine’s Sux. The Frights may not have a quarrel with Valentine’s Day itself, but they wax crestfallen over a breakup on the Weezer meets FIDLAR like charmer. The Frights are preparing to hit the road this March, and they’ll be making an appearance at SXSW, too. Keep up with the band on their website, here.
