An Usher classic gets a surreal, ethereal re-imagining on It’s Okay Girl, courtesy of a producer from Trinidad & Tobago named London Future. He heavily samples from Usher’s You Don’t Have To Call, a song that brings back plentiful good memories from the early 2000′s. With it, London Future crafts a spacious, lurchy behemoth, laced with Jersey bounce, futuristic swells, jagged bass, and trappy pulses. It’s an earth shaking yet slick banger that will blow your mind.

You should know by now that we can always trust Chicago duo The Hood Internet to drop the best mashups, the most surprising but seamless blends of indie and hip hop. But, you have to admit, they’ve really topped themselves with their latest, Still Letting It Happen, a slaying cocktail made from Usher, Migos, and… Tame Impala! I can play this jam over and over again and not be tired of it right now.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve really enjoyed the whole bring back the oldies on remixes trend that’s been going on lately. I used to be really into some of Usher’s earlier work. I’m NOT going to give out my age publicly by getting into deets, but U Don’t Have To Call certainly soundtracked some fantastically young and reckless moments back in the day. Producers Vaux & Rivera have given the sexy jam a warm and balmy deep house update that keeps the song deliciously sultry, but takes it into smooth, laid back territory.

Mura Masa dropped a spectacular new track recently named I’ll Be Alright (Tonight). As soon as you hit the play button, you’ll recognize who and what the Soulection signed Indonesian artist edits on the alluring, seductive downtempo R&B song. Mura Masa crafts a late night aperitif out of Childish Gambino’s cover of Usher’s U Don’t Have To Call, giving it a minimalist, jazzy atmosphere and a velvety smoothness.

Vancouver’s Pat Lok has a generous gift for us, even though it was HIS birthday yesterday, not ours. Let’s all wish him a collective belated happy birthday! To celebrate, the producer is giving away a club flip of Usher’s good ol’ hit Yeah. It’s a luscious, lavish, R&B meets house and hip hop affair. I’m sure we all grew a little tired of the original after we heard it 999,999,999,999 times everywhere all the time, and this super fresh spin has me enjoying the tune again.

One of the tunes that’s generated the most buzz today is this new remix of Usher’s Good Kisser by none other than red hot UK electronic duo Disclosure. Honestly, anytime Disclosure releases ANYTHING, they generate the most buzz that day. That’s how hot they are. Their remix of Usher’s Good Kisser is a fresh UK house take, infused with plenty of that infectious dance sound we all love about them. It’s a sweet take, though personally, I most prefer tunes from Disclosure’s stellar album Settle, any day. Usher and Disclosure should collaborate on a new original. Don’t you agree?

I had the pleasure of catching American mashup producer Kap Slap live a couple weeks ago in San Francisco, and boy, was that fun. He’s proving himself to be what some call the “Girl Talk of EDM”. Don’t let that mislead you though, he mashes far more than just dance trax. The guy’s really, really good at what he does. On top of that, he just graduated from college with a double degree (I forget in what, economics and something else scientific?). So, now he’s focusing 100% of himself to his music prowess. Get ready to hear the name Kap Slap a crap ton more. Here’s a mega uber high energy hour long mix to get you into a frenzy. He called it the Spring Break Mix 2013. This one’s obviously pretty focused on the EDM stuff.

It’s been one year and a day since Usher released his Climax collaboration with Diplo, and that was a heckuva great one. Yesterday, they decided to make it a Valentine’s tradition and released another new collaboration, this time a track titled Go Missin’. Like Climax, the beats produced by Diplo are sick as freak. They make a great team.
