Heads up, kids. A must listen new arrival just came out of the music woodwork but less than an hour ago, and it comes from none other than post-dubstep, electronic, and gospel-imbued soul troubadour James Blake. I’ve actually been wondering for awhile now when he’d unleash some new music on us. The UK singer songwriter and producer is responsible for one of the best shows I attended last year. I was there for one of his three sold out shows at the Herbst Theatre in San Francisco and he was nothing short of magnificent, whether it was his solo ballads on piano, his dub heavy re-visits of older classics, or the immense catalog of new music he blessed us with that magical evening. This afternoon, he’s finally released a beautiful new song named Don’t Miss It via a lyric video of sorts. It’s a much pensive and reflective song, sparse and understated yet gorgeously mesmeric with its soft trickling beats, haunting keys, and soulful cooing. Don’t Miss It, which is a collaboration with Mount Kimbie’s Dom Maker, almost feels like a CocoRosie song mixed with James Blake’s downtempo gospel and electro-soul.

A new Hudson Mohawke treat is by itself a sure to be sweet and welcome delight, but a HudMo remix of Boards Of Canada can only be jaw dropping, face melting spectacular. The brilliance of the two Scottish acts combine on Hudson Mohawke’s remix of the experimental electronic duo’s Amo Bishop Roden. There’s a trap grittiness to the magnificent, expansive remix. It’s atmospheric upon atmospheric when these two behemoths combine. Let HudMo take you on an astronomical adventure that spans space, time, and worlds.

Last month, a duo named The Alexanders gave us a thumping deep house and nu-disco remix of Porter Robinson’s Urban Cone featuring Lionhearted. To the surprise of myself, being a little slow to the game in this case, I learned that The Alexanders is actually a super duo, made up of Alex Metric and Yuksek! Now the two have released a new original, named Pwoin Pwoin Pwoin (isn’t that fun to say aloud?), and it’s a four to the floor, bass heavy, Detroit meets France and the UK dance jam, purely hypnotic and highly intoxicating. Pwoin Pwoin Pwoin.. say it with me…

Katy B has previewed some grooving tunes off her upcoming album Little Red, out sometime next year. So far, they’ve showcased her UK garage and soulful bass sound that we’ve become so familiar with from the artist who started out in early UK dubstep. Now, the songbird channels some major pop ballad expertise on another album track, Crying For No Reason. It’s a powerful love anthem. I’m itching to hear remixes of this track.

For some super groovy electronic vibes, check out new UK act Simba’s Back Up, who were just signed to record label The Fat! Club. There isn’t too much to be found about Simba yet, but Skream & Benga also debuted another Simba track titled Bejewelled on BBC Radio the other day. Stream the radio rip for that sick textured house jam below. I imagine we’ll be hearing the name Simba more in the future, and not in conjunction with any Disney film.
